I found my old USB tuners problematic and was happy when I moved over to PCI tuners. I personally use a Blackgold BGT3620 PCI dual HD tuner card and it has been perfect. Only downside is that these cards can be a bit pricey compared to others but for me, it was money well spent (£90) for rock solid stability and great picture quality.

They do a quad DVBT2 tuner, the BGT3650 (£140...........)

I also think it is important to pay attention to good quality aerial cables and connectors (as few as possible), especially if your signal strength is iffy.
The more devices/tuners you have connected to the aerial, the weaker the signal can get. So a quad tuner would be good in that it would mean potentially less aerial cables and connectors which can degrade the signal.

Also don't forget that NPVR can (and I think will) actually record multiple channels at the same time from a single tuner if those channels all happen to be on the same MUX.

is this in addition to the power supply that comes with the 460e? I have it plugged directly into the computer's USB port, but I also have the transformer that came with the device plugged directly into the device... does this not provide enough power on its own?

I don't know that spesific device, but if it is powered on its own you should be good.

Thanks for the tuner suggestion... I'll check that one out :-)

I think that ought to be OK on its own. My post earlier was about the 290e

ah - good point... I do have that tuner plugged straight in to USB and it doesn't have external power... I'll try putting it into a powered up and see if becomes more stable. :-) Cheers.
