I've just had some info back from Samsung. Apparently this TV (a 2014 model) only (officially)supports FHD at up to 30FPS. The recordings from NextPVR are straight off BBC HD and appear to be FHD at 50FPS. That being the case, I don't understand how a) it plays it at all - never mind the odd drop out or b) how I can watch BBC HD OTA without any dropouts at all.

Do the BBC really broadcast at 50fps at 1920x1080?

I'm more than a little puzzled why the TV can play BBC HD at 1920x1080 50fps direct from the freeview tuner, but cant successfully do the same from the network or a usb stick. Also why should 2 apparently lower spec TV's be able to cope with the same file perfectly well. I've asked Samsung to explain, but don't hold out much hope.

Martin, I presume your TV's also handle FHD content OK even though they cant play my sample.

I've got a Raspberry, but unfortunately, WAF precludes XBMC/Kodi as an option. She can't cope with the variations in the user interface/remotes.

Not when I just had a look a moment ago DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 both at 25fps on BBC-HD
and yes, my TV displays broadcast HD no problem.

My understanding is there BBC shows that use either/both of 1080i/50 to 1080p/25 http://www.bbc.co.uk/faqs/bbchd_channels_schedule

I've just recorded a short sample from BBC-HD and sure enough it shows as 1920x10080 at 25fps. However the recordings I have that exhibit the 'Blink' show as 1980x1080 50fps. I don't have a tool that tells me if its interlaced or not. I guess that's the issue.

Is there an easy way to find out?

OK that would work. Especially if it works with the Samsungs HDMI-CEC. I will give it a go....
