one more tidbit of information: I changed client2 into a new server and had client1 connect to it, then tried a channel change. The same issue occurred with the second server, pegging the i5-4690 client to 98%.

sub,

sorry to be a pest, but I actually setup a 3rd server and 3rd client with the same issue persisting.

the previous log file was from client, the one attached here is from server - in this log, it show that nrecord enters some sort of loop that only ends when I reset the client - this file might be more helpful

Since upgrading to 3.4.8, live TV channel changes have failed on multiple clients 100% of the time. On the prior version, client channel changes worked 95+% of the time with rare hangs that might have been tuner related. (ATSC tuners)

(My reception with 3 USB and 1 PCIe tuner is 100% reliable on initial startup on all channels but at least one tuner on rare occasions won't lock when switching between particular channels. ie Tune A, try to switch to B, no video, switch back to A then C and switch to B ok. Don't think it's an NPVR issue.)

On the initial release of 3.4.8, the client would hang 100% of the time on channel changes but the client CPU load dropped since it was no longer playing video. I just installed the current 3.4.8 on both server and client and client channel changes are still failing 100% of the time and after a few seconds the client CP load jumps to ~60%, much higher than when playing live TV successfully.

When these client hangs on channel changes happen, the server shows the tuner has switched to the new channel and the new channel video file is in the server live tv folder and continues to grow in size. I've played it with VLC while the client is hung and the video plays correctly and continues to update.

Playing recorded TV on the client is 100% reliable as is starting live tv playback on all channels.

My apologies for not reporting it sooner but I normally run with logging minimized to minimize SSD wear and tear and just haven't had the time to reenable logs, sanitize them and post them.

If you guys bump the thread next week (when I'm back in NZ), I'll take a closer look at what's happening.

Sub, I sure would appreciate it if you could take a look at this. Channel change works fine on the server, but not on client. If I set the mode to server on the client, it works fine as well. I have tried multiple combinations, but client-to-server, channel change hangs the client.

Thanks

Sorry, I was only home for just over a week, and I didn't find time to look into this, and now I'm out of the country again.

Do you think you will have chance when you return?
