I'm not sure what the best audio decoder is for you as your TV standards are different to mine but I think US users often use the AC3filter. see post #18 here

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...=ac3filter

the ac3filter decoder allows you to configure the 5.1 > stereo downmixing.

I don't know, maybe it took some restarts for this to show up, but now with AC3filter taking over I do get that icon for the decoder like you said in my system tray. As you can see in my latest posts we have been able to get this fixed. Thanks for the help.

This has been working great, but I had been notified earlier that I may have a corrupted NPVR download and with other problems I was considering reinstalling NPVR. This seems to be so touchy, I don't know why, and just unplugging my usb tuner and replygging it in caused me to go back to no tuner connection. I couldn't find what to do so I went ahead with the reinstall. That got me going again and not having this posts problem, but now I am getting some popping in my audio. Do I need to reset the decoder somehow or what would cause this? Thanks.

In NPVR Settings>Decoders check that Video Renderer is set to EVR and Audio Renderer is set to Default. Then confirm you still have AC3Filter selected for AC3 Audio and verify it is set for Stereo output. This should get NPVR sound working and is about all that can be done in NPVR. Also, since you are on Win7, using the MS DTV DVD video decoder should be just fine for US TV.

You could check if other programs have the popping audio. If so, check the sound settings in Windows Control Panel and perhaps in Computer>Device Manager. Or, just reboot?

Avermedia tuners seem to be a little cranky in general, and then with a USB connection, it might be even more cranky. I would reboot any time I unplugged the tuner.

Sound seems to all be fine after I have restarted my pc and restarted NPVR a few times. Probably just a glitch or needing to restart up a couple times. Everything else you said was set like you wanted.

This avermedia usb tuner seemed fine for about a year of occasional use and then it started going wacky. That does seem to be true, cranky is a good description for it. I need to try to never disconnect it because that is where I have trouble. Usually works ok, but not sure I trust it much. Also seems to not like WMC anymore.

Thanks again for all of your help. On to my list of other problems in various areas.

Hello. Was this ever resolved in WMC? I had a similar problem, but the audio was like an engine without a muffler. I installed Kodi first and then NVPR. Found out I needed AC3 filter and used the suggested LAV. All worked fine on some test recordings. Didn't feel I needed Kodi, so I uninstalled it. Then the audio became "corrupted" as I described. Noticed it was true in WMC as well. So I uninstalled NVPR and still a problem in WMC. I chose to restore my disk via System Restore from manufacturer which usually brings everything back to the beginning. WMC still has the strange audio. I have not reinstalled NVPR, but want to since it was working.

Perhaps the LAV software blew up my TV Tuner Card? It's AverMedia H751 Hybrid PCI-E Tuner card that came with the PC. Can anyone help?

not LAV decoder software is incapable of blowing up your tv tuner.........

This community to help you to get nextpvr working correctly but if you want help with WMC problems, you need to visit a WMC forum.
If you are having problems with video playback of nextpvr, reproduce the problem, upload the logs and someone can advise you on whether you have the right codecs installed (or not)

Okay, I was assuming if the problem persisted in WMC, it would also be true in NextPVR. The problem I am experiencing did not occur until after I had installed the software and where I initially noticed the audio problem. I will reinstall it momentarily and follow your directions. Upload the logs?

Okay, it's working so far. There is no mention of where to place the DirectX files when doing the install. I think this where the problems might have started.

I have found the thread SAF6 which provided a program that should have fixed this concern. I must have missed this in the sticky thread. I guess that ends my question.

Since my WMC problem evolved once installing this program initially, that is why I looked here to see if it had happened to anyone else. The OP seemed to have a similar situation which prompted my inquiry. Sorry if I erred.

I have found the thread SAF6 which provided a program that should have fixed this concern.
For completeness ... SAF is an installer that installs decoders that should work for all TV in the known universe (though it hasn't been tested in every single galaxy). SAF also configures NextPVR to use these decoders. SAF also installs some utility programs related to video. You can get SAF to install the "best" decoders if you send a forum private message to Hoborg and ask for the "unlocked" version.

DirectX is also an installer. It doesn't matter where you put the .exe and running the .exe should install the DirectX files in the appropriate Windows folders.
