I have a feeling I'm not doing something correctly.
Usually it'd update dynamically, but you could press F5 to force it to refresh.

You could do it with a second monitor, or just run NextPVR in a window so you can also see Windows Explorer.

I did as you stated. I had the LiVE TV Buffer open. Then while attempting to switch channels I kept refreshing the folder. Nothing. Later, when I had a channel tuned and working fine I refreshed that filder and there was nothing.
What's the next step?

With apologies ... where you looking at the correct folder? It's set at Settings --> Misc ... as Live TV Buffer ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ation.Misc

I suspected that I wasn't. That's actually why I threw that statement in haha. I'll do it again, but this time I'll do it right.
Thanks for holding my hand through this. This stuff is not my forte.

I did it just now. There were 31 or 32 .ts files in there that appeared as thumbnails of screen shots. So I changed the channel and refreshed the folder. I couldn't tell exactly what was happening because it was pretty fast, but it appeared that a file popped up, then may have disappeared? I did a few channel changes and it added a few .ts files.
Does that make any sense?

It appears to be doing what it is supposed to do. NextPVR provides pause and rewind of Live TV. To do this, NextPVR writes the received stream to disk as well as displaying the stream on screen. The .ts files that you see are the "recording" files that are used for pause and rewind. Each time that you change channel, NextPVR closes the existing file and creates a new file and starts writing data to the new file.

Sub said earlier ...

sub Wrote:A first step is to probably work out if it's the recording side or the playback side that is causing it to go slow. You could probably only windows explorer, looking at the live tv buffer directly, try one of these channel changes, quickly check a file is created and growing before the error happens. This should tell use the recording side is ok.

He is suggesting that you display the Live TV buffer folder in "Details" view (i.e. no thumbnails ... just file name, modified date and file size). When Live TV is operating you should see a .ts file in the folder and the file should be increasing in size. You can press F5 while in Windows Explorer to force a refresh of the folder display. When you change channels, you should see a new.ts file get created and the size of the file should immediately begin to increase.

Sub would like to know if the file is created immediately when you change channels and begins to grow in size immediately after it is created.

Ok. I'm Sorry, I didn't fully understand. I'll ciew the details view and sort by date so the new file should pop up on top so I can see it.

Thanks again.

Ok, so I just changed channels quite a few times, and this time it only acted up once or twice. It looked like, when everything was working correctly, there wasn't a new file created, but the file for that channel was added to? Does that sound correct? Some of these files are over 500K MB. Anyway, the one time that it acted up and I was able to get the folder open nothing happened. When I got the box giving me the error file, the folder for that channel was highlighted, but the file size didn't change.

Does that make any sense? Should I just try to find a different PVR program? I fell bad asking for you folks' time.

No, that's not correct. There is a new file created for every channel change.

Some of your early logs showed a 30+ second delay attempting to change channels, which I'd hoped would be enough time to confirm the file was being created, and that it was indeed growing (ie receiving data from the device).
