All you should need to do is replace Sub's default "hushpc" with the name or IP address of your server and similarly for the Database Share replace the word "hushpc" again with the server name or IP address \\Server-Name\npvr.

Then you should check in Windows Network that the server is visible and NPVR is shared and that you have write access to the directory.

There have been reports from people, myself included, that after upgrading to Win10; the Active Network was changed from 'Private network' to 'Public network'. So if you really are on a Private network, go to the Network and Sharing Center and under 'View your active networks' make sure that under Network you see Private Network. The default sharing parameters for a Public network are very different than for a Private network.

I tried changing the name of the server to the ip address but it wouldn't let the client open at all. That's a little odd since that's what I used to do in Win 7. Did you just change the name in the client or did you also change the name of the PC in Windows?

Did you share ONLY the npvr directory under C:\Users`Public? That is what I do and set permissions to Everyone allowed everything on that directory.

I have to use JIM-PC\Users\Public\NPVR. That folder is shared on the server but any other server address causes the client to fail to load (and I've tried them all).

As has been said its best to share just "NPVR". That way you would just connect to \\JIM-PC\NPVR.

Forgive me if I am stating the bleedin' obvious ... Did you right-click on the the NPVR folder (in Users/Public) on the server in Windows Explorer and click "Share"?

Sub uses \Users\Public so users won't need to explicitly share the NPVR folder using default Windows settings. In that case the proper syntax is \\server\Users\Public\NPVR.

If you are not using Windows defaults on the server you can turn on sharing of the Public folder in Network and Sharing Centre or create the special NPVR share.

If I right click the server NPVR folder and select ShareWith it indicates the folder is being shared with everyone on the network and is not password protected. I still have to use Sub's \Users\Public to allow the client to connect. It's not a big deal to me, just a little curious as to why.
