(every upgrade we see a few who somehow don't get their database updated during the upgrade, it's always a mystery as to why...)

This fixed it! Thank you so much for all the help everybody!

I'm wondering if the NPVRRecordingService is being stopped before installing the new version over the old. I installed 3.8.3 over 3.7.7 after stopping the service and had no problems.

Just a thought...

I encountered an error (already documented) where a component was not replaced. I exited of nextpvr, stopped the service, and reinstalled. I then encountered the missing EPG guide issue and ran the command line to update the db. I initially had followed the prompt at Nextpvr launch to update. I suspect that both issues are caused (in my case) by Windows 10 or Bitdefender holding file locks preventing files that are "in-use" from being updated cleanly. For those unfamiliar with cmd line usage in Windows 10, here are some steps to run the command line to update the database:

1) Launch File Explorer
2) locate the folder that contains Nextpvr software. On my system it is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR.
3) Hold down the shftt key and right-click on the NPVR folder. This will bring up a context menu for the folder. Release the shift key.
4) Left-click on the context menu item: "Open command window here".
5) Type in the command indicated above, and press enter.

I had to go back into the settings in NextPVR and press update EPG. So, do the command line thing and the update the EPG.
