I too am having video dropout in the lower quarter since upgrading to 4.0.4.171121 on HD playback. I would like to roll back to 4.0.4.170820 to carry on testing, but being new to this, I'm not sure of the procedure.

I tried installing the previous version over the top of the current installation, but that still reports as being 171121 in the settings screen.

If I were to uninstall to roll back, would that clear all of my settings/recording details and scheduled recordings?
Thanks!

Edit: The dropout does appear to be on scene changes and affects recordings made before and after I upgraded.

Are you seeing this playing a recording? If so, please supply a sample recording and I'll take a look. Put it somewhere like dropbox or onedrive, and let me know the download link.

sub Wrote:Honestly, I can't imagine that being possible, but post the logs for both combinations of NextPVR.exe and I'll see if I can see any difference.

NextPVR.exe itself plays no part in playback. It's only really responsible for drawing the menu screens etc.

Hi Sub
3 Sets of logs
First set
NextPVR.exe 21/11/2017 00:01
NPVRTSReader4.ax 20/08/2017 20:00
This plays fine apart from transmission glitches now and again.

Second set
NextPVR.exe 21/11/2017 00:01
NPVRTSReader4.ax 17/10/2017 21:50
This one has a lot of picture breakup bottom quarter of screen.

Third set
NextPVR.exe 20/08/2017 05:41
NPVRTSReader4.ax 17/10/2017 21:50
This one has some picture breakup bottom quarter of screen.

So you are correct It is not NPVR.exe - not sure why didn't notice in a day of viewing.

I've just seen the new NPVRTSReader4.ax on the other thread so will give that a go.

I'm currently using the NPVRTSReader4.ax dated 9/9/2017. Others had either the screen ripping in the lower section or would pop up an error onscreen frequently about some buffer being too small.

Yes, it's on playback, but I don't use nextpvr for live TV, so I can't comment on that. Prior to upgrading, I'd get the occasional video glitch which I put down to bad signal.
This is different and occurs regularly on scene changes and when you'd expect the bitrate to increase.

The link to an affected file is here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ro0UU-...P4My-qM2Fd
Let me know when you've got it and I'll take the link down.

There is a cut to a scene framed with trees at around 14:50 which consistently produces the dropout.
I've noticed this more across content that contains a lot of green. Just discussing this with a colleague and we can't remember from mpeg theory if green would cause a higher bit rate or if its psychological and I'm just noticing it more there!

I'm about to push this file through mp4 conversion and I'll feedback if there is any noticeable dropout on the output file.

An example can be seen just after about 3:30 in the cutchunked recording at ... https://expirebox.com/download/25cb50137...70288.html

In the uploaded example, the distortion is only about the 10% of the screen height at the bottom. I have played other recordings where the distortion is about 25% of the screen.

Watching ITV HD freeview for about 20 mins before going to work this morning on GMTV, when the News Headlines rolled at the bottom of the screen they tended to break up causing the picture below to also breakup so yes about the bottom 10%.

The MP4 conversion shows no video dropout around the 14:50 mark, so it looks like it is occurring on playback via nextpvr.

Thanks for the files.

Please give this updated reader a go, and let me know if it helps. It fixes an issue with some H.264 I-frames overflowing a buffer.

Is that just a matter of renaming/replacing the existing file in the npvr folder? If so, it doesn't appear to have improved things for me.
