Kodi not connecting to NPVR backend

I can see the Kodi NextPVR addon is successfully managing to talk to NextPVR, and get the channel list, but it looks like Kodi has got screwed trying to store the channels in it's local channel cache.

I suspect you might need to use the 'Clear Data' button in the Kodi Settings -> 'PVR & Live TV' screen. Hopefully after that it'll manage to save the channels.

Wow, spot on. I did delete and reinstall the add-on but clearly that didn't fix things. The Clear Data has done the trick. What a peculiar coincidence of problems - I had also been experiencing an unstoppable recording and was delving for a solution to that a few hours before the Windows update kicked in. The update was definitely the cause of the Windows black screen (there are reports of it happening with the April updates at the MS site) but I wonder if the long-running, unstoppable recording had some bearing on the Kodi/NPVR issue even though I still had masses of space available on the disk.

Anyway, very grateful to Sub and to everyone else for their input here. Happy days!

Yeah, there was nothing wrong with NextPVR or the NextPVR addon - just some bug in Kodi's PVR subsystem.

Yeah, unless the unstoppable recording lies behind it? That was weird - it had run for over 24 hours before I even noticed it, which was when I tried to delete and it failed to do so both with Kodi and directly with NPVR. Then I saw the file size etc.

I don't think so - we have seen a few reports of this issue where the device is not freed up correctly, and I've attempted a fix for the next release. I can't see that causing the kodi channel issue you reported, and it hasn't been the case for the other users. In fact, you're the first person I've ever seen with that error. I suspect it's just a rare bug that can happen in Kodi related to saving channels to it's own cache tables.

the same pc works good when i am connected on local network with kodi and over the internet with web browser bat not over internet with kodi

Make sure you have 'allow remote access' ticked on the Settings->Clients screen (near bottom).

If you've already done that, post the nextpvr logs after an attempt and I'll take a look.

That said, when you do get it going - NextPVR sends the full bitrate stream to kodi, so you'd need to have a very fast internet connect to be able to actually watch TV over the internet. It's really intended for use over local networks.

Have you checked the connection type on windows has not changed to Public? Latest Windows update did that to me. Change the connection type to private if it is not, and try again.
I would also start with disabling firewall totally for all three network types and windows defender.

i am already able to connect and watching over internet with web browser
the problem is on kodi and the addon will not start over internet
i am giving in nextpvr hostname the link to my dyndns address is that correct?
i have tried with the ip also bat with the same error
where i can find the nextpvr log file? (from the server or client?)
