Nextpvr Shield TV Oreo Update Tuner Lost

I've had the problem since I bought the shield 2 weeks ago. I had a heck of a time mapping a drive, but finally succeeded. And of course now it updated to support SMB 3 today. Anyway, with the pain in the ass it was to get the share mapped, I figured it must be some permission based issue and switched the directory to the shared directory(just to be clear the network share is on the NEXTPvr machine) and like I said it has been working flawlessly all day. I was getting the lost tuner error until this morning. And no, the drive is a 120gb Samsung SSD on the C: and mirrored WD Blue for the share.

Both my shields gave that error immediately when using timeshift in the Kodi Add-on.

I feel the main reason the "lost tuner" timeshift bug has been so hard to fix is that it is very hard to duplicate.

If you are experiencing the issue, try just sharing the the timeshift directory without moving it and then go the shield storage settings and mount that share. See what happens. Worked for me and has made me happy.

Both my shields gave that error immediately when using timeshift in the Kodi Add-on.

Once the timeserver bug has surfaced you cannot get rid of it without rebooting the PC and yes the errors are immediate.

I tried the suggestions here, but unfortunately sharing the LiveTV buffer directory and mounting it on the Shield didn't fix the issue for me. I am currently running Kodi 18 RC2, with the latest NextPVR addon, but when I enable TimeShift in the add-on, I can't actually tune a station in on the shield. I can see the LiveTV buffer increasing on my Windows PC, but the TV connected to the shield doesn't show anything (basically hard locks). I need to force quit Kodi and restart it. As soon as I disable TimeShift, the add-on works fine.

If I use OpenServerWMC and it's add-on in Kodi, TimeShifting works fine. I'd prefer to use NextPVR though. Hopefully there will be a fix soon for this.

I should mention that I am using 17.6 Krypton. I have had no luck getting 18 to run.

Your best bet is to post the logs, which will hopefully help Mike track down the source of the problem.

I don't personally use Kodi, but I gave the most recent build a go yesterday and it does work for me with timeshift enabled. I was able watch live tv, change channels etc, but skip wasn't working.

Attaching the logs as it is still not working for me. Time to look for is about 18:40-18:48. Here is what I tried to capture.

1. Configured NextPVR add-on in Kodi 18 RC 2 on Nvidia Shield without timeshifting being enabled in the Advanced menu of the add-on
2. Tuned to Channel 510, and the station played LiveTV.
3. After watching for 1-2 min, I tried to rewind and skip back -10s. It tries to work (timeshift bar appears, but contains negative numbers in what looks like a counter), but immediately jumps to LiveTV.
4. Pausing the channel worked... the channel paused.
5. Resuming the channel worked for about 5 seconds and then I get kicked back to the Guide.

Then I enabled Timeshifting on the Advanced Menu of the PVR (about 18:46). Exited Kodi, and restarted the app. When I tried to go to a channel (again 510), it never brings up the actual channel and just hangs. Checking the buffer directory on my Windows 7 PC, which is what the backend is hosted on, I can see the stream getting larger in the directory, so I know the tuner and buffer seem to be working.

My Nvidia Shield on this TV is at 7.1. I've upgrade another Shield in my house to 7.2, but everything still behaves the same. I also tried downgrading Kodi 18 back to 17.6, but then I simply received the Tuner Lost message that started this thread.

First navigation and pausing without timeshift on will cause problems and if you pause for more than 15 seconds it will fail.

You need to send the Kodi debug log with the matching NextPVR logs if you want any hope for a solution.

I appreciate the help and thank you for looking into this. I reproduced the steps I outlined above (same order). Time frame is 23:05-23:15 on Dec 15. The stream locks at about 23:12. Kodi log can be found at https://paste.kodi.tv/tehilixazi
