I see this as an option for cord shavers, not cord cutters.

If they did not have ESPN, they could offer this for under $30/month.

If you are looking for more channels without sports then have a look at https://try.philo.com/ 40 channels for $16. It probably will not work with NextPVR as they have their own app, but that might be an option for some. I had considered it myself, but decided I didn't need more channels.

I had a few minutes to play around with this today. I couldn't get the scan to pick up any of the new channels, however I am able to watch them as an IPTV source.

I opened the my.hdhomerun.com page and opened the channels lineup. I copied the link address for each channel into the IPTV device defined in my npvr install and gave each one a name and a channel number.

With this I am able to watch these 3 channels. Playback looks pretty good even though I have npvr installed on a windows VM.
I need to read up on how to create an m3u file to import all the channels at once.

Did you try going to the Settings->Devices tab, double click the 'HDHR' device (not ATSC/QAM), then hit the scan button?

Yes. If I go to any of the HDHR devices it scans and immediately shows the OTA channels I have enabled in the my.hdhomerun.com lineup and stops.

I just tried it a few more times.

If you open http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml?show=unprotected in your browser, does it list these extra channels?

Is http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml the same? (ie removing the ?show=unprotected)

Yes. http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml gives the same results. OTA only

http://<ipaddress>/lineup.html shows all the channels including the new premium channels

I can parse the html if necessary - but that is less than ideal.

Is http://<ipaddress>/lineup.json the same as xml, and just showing the OTA?

I'm guessing they have some extra http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml?show=premium or similar. One of you guys that can get these channels might need to do some investigating. ie, maybe look at the http requests in Wireshark or similar?

Apparently if you were a subscriber, http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml would include these channels.

If you're just viewing the demo streams, you have to include http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml?show=demo, which is why you're not seeing them in NextPVR at this stage.
