However it doesn't explain why tomorrow's 7:30 episode does not appear as red in the TV schedule to indicate that it will be recorded but it does show up in the pending recording that it will be recorded. I think that this behaviour is one on the reason for my confusion about what is to be recorded.

Simply stated, NextPVR initially sees each channel on each tuner as different from each channel on every other tuner. NextPVR then merges channels so that the same channel on multiple tuners is seen as a single channel. This merge process may have gone a tad haywire so that NextPVR is seeing a single channel as two separate channels. It may that one channel is being displayed in the Guide and a second version of the same channel is being used for the recording.

NextPVR Settings --> Channels lists the channels and you may see the same channel in the list more than once. You can right click on a channel and manually merge multiple instances of the same channel.

I see this from time to time. The timeline across the top of the guide shows red for the relevant time but the programs themselves are not in red. If I quit NPVR and start it up again, the recordings then show up in red.
