Kodi addon keeps freezing, on playback then dumping back in the recordings list

I'm happy to look at the logs, but do note there are a few situation where this could occur. If you start to play a recording immediately after you start recording, it will almost definitely exit. Also if you are playing catchup and seek too near to real time there will likely be problems. My recommendation is to stay more then a 30 seconds back from "live".

Here's another example that has just happened while watching a recording - https://paste.kodi.tv/kerayatolo Sometimes when this happens, restarting playback gives me the option of resuming where it left off; other times, such as this instance, no option is displayed and playback is from the beginning.

Do you want the NPVR logs also?

Yes I will, the backend stopped responding correctly after the video was watched.

The web server is definitely doing odd things. Can you confirm that it is freezing at the end of playback but then in these two scenarios it started working again a minute or two later?

Your EPG update seems to have worked ok this time. I did notice that the web server reset earlier while streaming a recording did you restart it manually or reboot the server?

It isn't freezing at the end of playback - it happens during playback. On these two occasions, I was able to restart the playback from the recordings listing without having to kill Kodi with Task Manager and restart Kodi itself. But there have been instances where I have had to resort to that extreme because it was completely unresponsive at the listing page.


I submitted the logs prior to restarting the playback.

I've definitely not rebooted the server since yesterday. I thought I was bypassing the web server now? Per your suggestion, some days ago I applied the changes to advancedsettings.xml so that it went direct to the recordings directory.

1. In that log there is no sign you are using advancedsettings.xml

2. I suspect whatever is causing NextPVR to 404 is causing the freezing during playback.

3. NRecord definitely restarted after Kodi started.

Ah, drat. I've moved advancedsettings.xml to %appdata%\Kodi\userdata\ - looks like I put it in the wrong place, sorry.

I can't respond to your points 2 and 3 - they're meaningless to me, sorry.

The thing has frozen three more times since my last post, which is typical of the last few weeks. Let's see what happens now that I've (hopefully) fixed my own mistake with the placement of the xml file. I would imagine the problem goes away because it avoids the web server.

Point 2 is for sub, the Kodi log clearly shows the web server stalling playback around the time of the 404

For point 3 if you didn't restart the web server then you need to check the Event Viewer to see what might have happened around 6:03
