I have tried to install knewc but the Linux Kodi Leia version does not offer a PVR add-on option that I can find. I've had no luck trying to resolve how to do this install, as much as I'd like to.

Documentation is thin and scattered.

You don't need a pvr addon to run knewc, it is a standalone python addon.

On the read me link (that one again) you can see how to install Kodi addons. If you don't want to install from the repo and again I wish I could edit the readme thread to make it clearer for knewc but I don't have access the manual steps are

The steps are download this file http://xnewa.netai.net/script.kodi.knewc...-2.7.4.zip

and then follow these

https://kodi.wiki/index.php?title=HOW-TO...a_zip_file

On Ubuntu pvr addons are built and installed by the distro not kodi and it is not trivial https://kodi.wiki/view/Ubuntu_PVR_add-ons

Many, many thanks, Martin. I also wish you could make the readme changes you would like to. It believe that you are referring to Post #5 in the readme.

I will try again to use the repo so that updates are automatic. If I get in trouble, I will follow the How-to instructions after downloading. Only then may I feel justified to post again.

Yes post #5  you actually have to navigate into the parent to find the root folder with folders for knewc the repo etc.

Definitely the easiest way to install the repo is with the zip file.

This still does not work in latest build. I'm wondering if it works for anyone? If so, then there's something about my hardware/software that's the problem. As I said before, I can use live tv in the web app and in other apps (WinTV8, Hauppauge Capture) with no issues. It's only the desktop app. I DID try KODI and that works as well, but I think it should work from the desktop app, too. As stated, it starts and then degrades in to a pixelated mess.

I'm getting the same pixelated mess with the desktop app on my test box using HDHR3-CC. Works fine in v4, and the HDHomerun Viewer.

Do you get the same in the web app? or if you view a channel from VLC opening network stream like http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=12

Yep. Same here. Web works fine, though. I can use the web locally with no issues. This almost has to be something to do with the desktop client and/or its interface with our systems. I'm using NVIDIA GEForce GTX 1050 display adapter with a dual monitor "clone" setup. The second monitor is a Sony 55" TV. Going back to a single display setup did not help. Nothing I've tried helps. I have Intel UHD 630 graphics as well, but have not tried that as I have to mess around with switching cables, etc.

The webapp complains that the server isn't powerful enough to stream to the browser; VLC won't open the MRL.
