Not sure

I am not sure about a Hauppauge 723x ... How is it connected to your cable box?

I suspect that the cable box is sending an analogue signal to the Hauppauge device ... NextPVR does not automatically support analogue ... It might be possible to get NextPVR working with a Hauppauge 723x by installing some additional software.
I have no idea.

Were your WMC channel number single digits like 10, 24 or more like 10.1, 24.1, 24.2

Then NextPVR is probably not the correct solution. If it is analog this devices doesn't even have h/w decoding. Maybe consider SageTV it uses a wizard style installation and supports analog devices. It is old school but so is WMC.

It might be that the simplest way forward is to spend a little money and buy WinTV software from Hauppauge ... https://www.hauppauge.com/pages/webstore...ntv10.html

I suggest that you email Hauppauge to ask which software you should buy for your device.

Or you can splash out on a new device to capture from your cable box ... https://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/which.html

But before any of that ... how is your cable box connected to your computer?

Yeah ... but ... the cable box is probably receiving a digital signal from the Cable TV company and outputting an analogue signal to your computer via the coax.
