I too see the missing audio error when switching between channels with MPEG and AC3 audio, but only on channels that have H.264 video and only on NextPVR v5. Changing all video and audio decoders to LAV filters has not resolved this issue.
As reported elsewhere escaping back to the main menu and hitting Live TV opens the channel switched to without error, and with audio playing perfectly. I don't see this error in NextPVR v4, but in my case the different versions are on different PCs.

Hi raymondjpg,
Thanks for that. Interesting that you are seeing this too. Out of curiosity, what part of the world are you in and what channels are causing the issues?

The issue arises only when switching between these channels if they have different audio types. There is no issue when switching between H.264 channels with the same audio type (MPEG or AC3), neither is there any issue with switching between SD (720x576) channels which are broadcasting MPEG video and audio to HD channels broadcasting H.264 and either type of audio, or vice versa. There are some SD channels broadcasting H.264 video and aac audio. I haven't checked these for the issue as I don't subscribe to them, from memory being either horseracing or shopping sites. As noted previously a workaround is to escape back to the main menu and select Live TV.

I do kind of know what is happening. I'm still thinking about the best way to resolve it.
I suspect v4 with <OnlyIncludeMappedAudioDecodersForTS> set to false, and 'use legacy TS Reader and Microsoft Demux' ticked would have worked. There isn't an equivalent in v5 though. If you've got multiple tuners available, your best bet might be to keep channels with different audio codecs on different tuners. This will work in v4 and v5. (since it'll stop and reconstruct the playback graph when you switch to a channel on a different device)

I have those settings in my v4 implementation that doesn't have this audio issue, and I did try to set the same options in the decoders option page of the v5 client GUI but it didn't resolve the issue. I guess because, as you say, there isn't an equivalent in v5, although I can't immediately spot the difference between the GUI and config.xml entry for both versions of NextPVR. |
