Not seeing anything in my log from running:
sudo -u nextpvr streamlink https://pluto.tv/live-tv/watchfree-mystery best -O > /tmp/filename.ts

File is created in .tmp and is viewable. It's as if nextpvr wasn't involved. It's only showing a request from Kodi that was me testing to be sure locast still worked and then it shows npvr zipping the log file. It shows debug comments, is there a level I should set to be more informative?

I really appreciate your help and think NextPVR is FAR better than mythtv or tvheadend. It has an awesome gui. I'm s close!

That isn't running using nextpvr application so I didn't expect it to be logged I just want to make sure the user credentials where ok. Can you please let me see the logs when you try a Pluto channel in NextPVR or NextPVR, I know what I am looking for.

OK, I restarted npvr just to have a fresh start in the logs.  I then attempted to start Star Trek: The Next Generation.  I've also included the log in web/temp where the last line says: Invalid data found when processing input. Hope this helps.

Mike

It it running it for sure "Running: streamlink https://pluto.tv/live-tv/star-trek-1 best -O" which basically means NextPVR should be reading stdout from streamlink

Did you try with Kodi to make sure that ffmpeg isn't getting in the way?

Also try a recording and see what gets saved.

Also try service nextpvr-server status That should show some stderr writes from streamlink.

Kodi says Playback failed on Star Trek. My locast channels are still working fine both through npvr web interface and through Kodi.

This extra has absolutely nothing to do with the locast extra it doesn't use python at all for playback. NextPVR is simply running that command that it logged it is running and capturing output. If you aren't seeing anything in journalctl I suspect there is still another problem with running streamlink and you need to check the streamink logs.

Thanks for the clarification on locast vs puto. I understand there must still be something wrong with streamlink. I'll work on that and try to see where it's putting its log. I know it's close!

Thanks again for your help!

Attached is my server status output.  For the life of me I don't know why streamlink keeps looking in my .local/share for plugins.  I even added the directly and made it 777 and it still fails.

I did finally find links to download up-to-date .deb files for streamlink and python-streamlink.  That was a mystery fr a long time since the instructions say to use the PPA and streamlink isn't in the PPA.

Any ideas why it's looking in my .local or why changing perms didn't resolve it?

Thanks,
Mike

I did say configuring streamlink is out of scope.  I can't explain why running in NextPVR is different then with sudo unless it is path related

Questions to check Did you install streamlink for all users?  What does streamlink.rc look like?  Did you turn on streamlink logging and where are the logs stored?
