Can you upload a zipped copy of install.txt file from C:\Temp

When you were running V4 did you run from the default folders?

Thanks since the installer is failing too, sub will need to look, that probably narrows it down.

Is your C Drive using Windows Disk compression?

C:\Users\kerwin>findstr
FINDSTR: Bad command line

findstr wants some arguments. Can you specify what you'd like as parameters?

Just last week I had a problem with one of my clients where one of their applications wasn't working properly anymore. Like NextPVR, it uses C:\Users\Public for a "common shared data folder location". And, it seems that a recent Windows update apparently either automatically enabled (or added) a Windows Security feature called "Controlled Folder Access" which was preventing both that application's installer and the program itself from creating or accessing its folder under C:\Users\Public\Documents. It looks like Controlled Folder Access protects C:\Users\Public\Documents, C:\Users\Public\Music, C:\Users\Public\Videos, and C:\Users\Public\Pictures. The NextPVR folder of C:\Users\Public\NPVR-DATA isn't one of those, but I'm wondering if that folder creation may also be being blocked in your case.

You can go to Windows Settings | Update & Security | Windows Security | Virus & Threat Protection | Virus & Threat Protection Settings | Controlled Folder Access | Manage Controlled Folder Access and see if it is enabled. If so, maybe try temporarily disabling it. Also, check your Windows Notifications to see if shows that it is blocking access to C:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data. Or in the settings accessed above, there is an option to view the Block History.

Thanks I really just wanted to know if it was in your path. Some user don't have the so there install fails. However knowing you have that does this

sc query state=all | findstr /C:"SERVICE_NAME: NextPVR Service"

return the service correctly.

I'm using Bitdefender. Windows Defender scanning and folder protection were off. I did check Bitdefender to see if it had reported any blocked activities. I have the ransomware protection featured (equivalent to protected folders) shut off in Bitdefender too. Thank you for the suggestion. I tried Bitdefender's protection mode some years ago on one my PCs and found it causing me grief on more than one occasion and shut it back off.
