Are you running 6.1.5?

It's timing out quite a bit for the same reason so no doubt some channels could have problems.  When it doesn't timeout it can still get more than enough channels.  EPG lose does get worse offer time send on failure valid are kept.

Since it worked native before it seems to be related to the increased overhead of Docker which I consider unnecessary on a RPi.  Do you need thumbnail and timing generation?  They can push a RPi4 if they aren't really needed.

Sub, I am not seeing anything in your log about PostProcessing or thumbs stopping could those by added for a future version.

Yes I am running version 6.1.5.231022. Unfortunately still the same error. See logs attached. I can't imagine it's due to docker overhead, there is no more load compared to the previous installation...

I guess I misunderstood I thought the previous installation was native not using Docker at all. The tuning is definitely not stopping after

2023-11-24 07:10:27:257 [DEBUG] EPG collection thread exiting

and I can't help further as this would need sub's investigation.

You're right that it all seemed to go wrong at the end of an EPG update, when nrecord.exe asked the tuner process (DeviceHostLinux) to stop the tuner at the end of the EPG update, but the request timed out and the tuner was left running. It's not immediately clear why it timed out though. It had worked fine the day before for the same process.

It failed earlier with the same issue, which is why I thought it might be a load to an RPI with all those thousands of EPG entries getting passed and the timeout might be too short.

It asked the device host for any new listings every second while doing the epg update, so never dealing with the full amount per minute.

So there isn't anything we can do about it? Currently I'm doing a reboot of the container everyday to avoid problems with recording.

It's a hack but in PostLoadEPG.sh https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Scripts you could try running

pkill DeviceHostLinux

and that would stop it. Not sure what state the leaves the tuner in though, it's worth a try. Don't forget to chmod +x the script
