can a few more people with large image collections, say around 3000-5000 images at 3megapixels or above, test this out on their complete collection, just do a random slideshow. i want to verify that the memory issue is fixed before i move on.

Reven,
I am one who has had problems in the past. I will try running it later tonight if I get a chance. I'm totally looking forward to being able to use it again!!!!

You rock!

Reven,
Quick question. I tried installing on my main GBPVR machine which is running 91.8 and it does not appear on the main menu. I tried a few things in the configuration menu and even tried reverting back to the blue skin and had no such luck. Is the problem 91.8 or am I experiencing some other problem?
I ran it on another computer which I just installed 92.11 on and it ran fine.

I've been watching the page file size along with the available physical memory and at this point it looks like windows is managing the page file and the available memory OK. It was growing for a while but it dropped back down just now. I would like to run it on the computer I had the previous problems with as it only has 512 megs ram vs. 1 gig this computer has.

And there are 12,384 files most of which are in the 3 megabyte range. I will continue to let it run for a few more hours and keep you posted.

Thanks again for the excellent work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Plugin won't show up if you just have one virtual root (reven is at it already). Just add another one like a CD or something and it will work at least for me it was that way.

yeah Heyt is right, theres a stupid bug which requires you to have 2 virtual root elements or more, and you also must use the blue skin (unless you manually update one of the other skins, but i dont suggest you do this just yet, since there will be more changes).

my pictures 3 alpha 2
fixed
- the bug that required you to have more than one virtual root element
- image width/height ratio now work correctly (so can adjust images so people dont look super fat or anything)
- some other bugs

added
- EXIF reader (theres another dll placed in the gbpvr root directory called exifreader.dll or exifutils.dll one of them) it now checks to see if the image is rotated (this will only work on most digital camera photos, not every single rotated image) and then flip it the right way around (if you have a few images that arent getting flipped attach them here and ill take a look)
- settings, the settings button now brings up a settings menu with a few settings for slide show interval, width/height ratio, and use blue/yellow for page up/down (this might go in the final release, im not sure if ill need to use the blue/yellow button for anything else).

so can a few more people test this out with large image collections and also test a random slide show with a widht/height ratio not set to 100% (any other value needs the image to be altered, so there might be a memory problem, i doubt there is but i still want a few people just to test it for me).

i havent gotten around to the copy option or anything yet, the settings controls (slide bars, checkboxs, took awhile to design).

enjoy.

I finally tried it last night. It worked well. I have about 6000 images, but they are broken down by camera/year/then the "roll" so there are many subfolders. Can you do a random slideshow of the whole tree?
Also the aspect ratio was off, it was squished making people thin. The problem I remember was it wasn't the same on pictures that weren't the same ratio. I haven't tried that yet.

One other thing, the zoom is nice, but a pain to go back to the original zoom just to go to the next picture, and when zoomed, the movement is too fine. Could that be adjustable? Maybe type a number, then hit arrow. 1=10pixels, 9=90pixels....

I use gbpvr only via MVP if that matters.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

when you click the "random" button, it will do a random playlist of all files in the current directory and every sub directory (inifinite subdirs), it will just take awhile to search for these images.

yeah the aspect ratio correction wasnt working in that release, its working in the alpha 2 release.

you can use skip/replay (ctrl-right, ctrl-left) to jump to the next picture at any stage.

ill add the movement percentage (or pixel amount, however ive done it, i cant remember off the top of my head) to one of the controls in the settings panel (just look at settings in the alpha 2 release), it will be a slider like the width/height and slideshow interval controls.

Hi reven

just did a quick test of the alpha2. And in gerneral most of the new things seem to work the way they are suposed to.

But i found two problems:
1. When you change the aspect ratio in the submenu (by the way looks really nice) it will only effect non rotated and 180° rotated images. Whenever you rotate by 90° to any direction the aspect ratio turns back to 100% for both.

2. The EXIF thing: In gerneral the reading of the EXIF data seems to work, but the images which should be rotated behave really strange. First the obvious thing they are not rotated!. And now the a bit strange thing on the remote the button for the rotation that is needed is deactivated (means if picture needs a rotation by 90° to the left the red button has no effect any more). And the other button will rotate the image by 180°.
But because it is always specific to the rotation needed i think you read the EXIF data correctly.
By the way for testing i deleted all old "folder.png" and started with a fresh database.
