This looks like another great plug-in, Jorm, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've got both Daemon Tools and VLC Player installed (latest versions), but I'm not getting any transcoding to happen.

Here's my settings.xml contents:
<settings>
<TempFile>D:\temp\dvd.mpg</TempFile>
<PlayMode mode="SIZE" value="150"/>
<DVDDrive>J</DVDDrive>
<BaseFileDirectory>c:\</BaseFileDirectory>
<MountDVDDrive>K</MountDVDDrive>
<ForceMvpMode>true</ForceMvpMode>
<MultiMvpMode>true</MultiMvpMode>
</settings>

I'm getting a 1KB "dvd-MVP" file created in D:\Temp when I try a transcode of a folder (this is all I've really tried so far). I'm trying to trancode a folder (F:\DVD\MARK_OF_ZORRO\VIDEO_TS) is the folder that I used for a test.

My J drive is my DVD burner and Daemon Tools mounts the K drive if I have an ISO image.

Why does the DVD.MPG file keep building even after I hit STOP on my remote?:confused:

Shouldn't this process stop and delete itself the next time I watch another movie?:confused:

Nope,

I am trying to test a 2 Client system and this didn't work.

Here is my XML. Don't I need to change my TempFile value too???

<settings>
<TempFile>c:\dvd.mpg</TempFile>
<PlayMode mode="SIZE" value="150" />
<DVDDrive>I</DVDDrive>
<BaseFileDirectory>C:\MyVideos\</BaseFileDirectory>
<MountDVDDrive>I</MountDVDDrive>
<ForceMvpMode>true</ForceMvpMode>
<MultiMvpMode>true</MultiMvpMode>
</settings>

<MultiMvpMode>true</MultiMvpMode>

try changing true to false. when you hit stop it should continue transcoding. But if you kill vlc or play something else it should stop.

I think there is a bug with the two client at the same time mode. I will work on fixing that.

Jorm,

any news on the language and sub-title feature ... or even a new release out soon?

Jorm, I also am interested in implementing the subtitles. That, and Closed Caption support, are the only things really hindering my GBPVR usage. I watch a lot of TV late at night when the kidds are asleep, and don't want to disturb them (and my wife).

Hi guys,

After reading this post, i have made a temporary work-around for everyone who wants to convert DVD to MPG in a super-quick way. It is done with some tools that came with XDVD.

It contains of a vb-script that does the appropiate steps in the correct order, giving the options of selecting an audio stream and / or subtitles. If you don't use subtitles, it is incredibly fast!!!! Also is there an option of converting the whole DVD, instead of one title. I made it this way, as there are lost of DVD's that contain a series with chapters...

I use it in this way:
Step one:
Use DVD-shrink to shrink the DVD to a wanted size, and re-author so just the movie (could be with chapters) is in the DVD-folder. Tick to make the VIDEO_TS-folder.
Step two:
Run my script with the appropriate arguments
Step three:
Watch the movie!

Preparation:
- Install VLC in "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC"
- copy VStrip.exe to "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN"
- download the script and place it in "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN"; rename to .vbs (Convert_DVD_MVP.txt)

To everyone who wants to use this workaround: Good luck; it works for me.
(Sorry, i made it in dutch. If you want a translation, please post in this thread.....)

By the way: Can anyone tell me how XDVD finds the "main title" of the movie? I presume it looks at the length of the movie within the VOBs or the IFO's. Could you post a snippet or a short example commandline?
