I will not be pulling the utils at this time, but I will probably be halting work on them.

whurlston,
1st -thanks for the nice work and contribution to the community,
Two issues remain for me... (( now just one, TomH))
(1) the sequence of the channels is correct in the YahooXMLTv output file -but- in the onscreen Guide there are multiple instances of the channels being out of order --- any ideas on what steps I might be missing?
------------------- sorry, have found the solution to (2) below earlier in thread ---------------
(2) Maybe I missed this but -- what's needed in order to have updates to be triggered automagically, so wife/kids are not required to run the YahooXMLTv.exe and then Do the "Update EPG" from GBPVR's config.exe?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Again, thanks for the fine work,

Again, thanks for the fine work,
1) you may have to use "name=1" to get the channels in order. I recommend removing the capture source and recreating it to clear the channels in GB-PVR first.
2) Create a file called "UpdateEPG.bat" in your GB-PVR directory and place the YahooXMLTv command line you want in it. GB-PVR will automatically call that batch file before each update.

That I believe. Scraping data for your use doesn't seem illegal. If you redistribute, that would be a copyright infringement. Anyway, whatever the case, I'm probably going to sign up for the schedules direct deal.

It's not a matter of redistibuting. The utils do not redistribute anything. They are retrieving data from a program rather than a website. But the terms of service of those programs are violated, just as the terms of service of the website is when using a scraper.

Thx 4 quik rply

(I was/am using name=1)
I removed capture source and recreated and did 'update EPG" from GBPVR Config.exe
Result: TV Guide showed all 'no data' result -but- the previous YahooXMLTv xml file was still present with the prev/old timestamp

Then deleted the YahooXMLTv xml file -and- manually reran YahooXMLTv.exe name=1
Restarted GBPVR (1.0.8) -not- doing anything in Config.exe
Result: TV Guide now populated -but- channels still interspersed (primarily in order but 20% of channels interspersed out of order, but same order result as previously)

Then, for fun, ran Config.exe -did "Empty EPG" and then "UpdateEPG" (did this all for BOTH capture sources)
Ran GBPVR.exe
Result:TV Guide channels still out of order

I don't mean this to be a flame war. To me it's an interesting topic that I wanted to discuss further.
Anyway, the usual way to assess damages is to say how many people you redistribute to. (not including punitive) For your own use, I have never heard of any litigation.

Just for the record.

Whurlston’s these are your projects and you should not feel obligated to other developer an any way. You have spent an incredible amount of effort developing them, and whatever decision you make in the end should be your decision alone, and is fine with me!
I jumped the gun a bit by following the YahooXMLTv thread and updating I-xmltv to support its output, it was a memory refresher I needed to do to support other new grabbers anyway.
That’s one of the reasons I avoided diving into the MCE version at the start, I don’t want anything I do, say, or plan, to affect the other developers projects.

Update EPG in the config is not the same as the UpdateEPG.bat. Pressing the "Update EPG" button will only run the YahooXMLTv app if it is an UpdateEPG.bat.

Thanks Jim, your work on I-XMLTv is much appreciated. I don't feel obligated to anyone. I started the projects when we were not sure of a viable alternative. We are now. We know the price and TMS is whole heartedly supporting it so I can only assume the data produced by Schedules Direct will be at least as good as the data we got from Zap2It. I expected pricing to be at least 3 times what the initial price announcement was but at $15/quarter with a price drop planned, I see no legitimate reason NOT to use and support Schedules Direct. If the data produced is not to my liking, I will reconsider this decision but at this point it really does not make sense to me to continue.

I understand that some people prefer free, but scrapers are produce by people who do not have viable options. I believe Schedules Direct to be viable and much more cost effective than the time spent for me to work on other options, which may be free for others but require a LOT of time invested by me. Time that is worth much more than the price Schedules Direct is charging.

I do not regret the work I have done, I just don't feel I need to continue at this time.
