pcostanza Wrote:Very strange. Now I can't get the VistaEPG2xmltv.exe file to run in either the ehome directory or from the other new directory I've created that worked before. Seems like running the GUI breaks something that only redownloading the MCE guide fixes.
From tempdownloader.bat F:\EPG\MCE2XML_GUI\VistaEpgDownloader.exe" LA17504-
In my ehome folder, I have the VistaEPG2xlmtlv.exe and MCEPG2Xmltv.exe files and running them works. As soon as I try your GUI, it stops working again until I again get the latest guide data in MCE.
If, after I run a guide update, run the VistaEPG2xmltv.exe file manually in the GUI folder, I get a good xml file.
I'm starting to get confused and think I need a beer break!

Don't be confused! The reason you are having trouble is the Scheduling Service is getting shutdown at the end of trying with the GUI. Just before you try any step, make sure the service is running... It's like that because the GUI isn't getting all the way through...

BTW how do you manually cause the MCE to download the listings? With whurlstons donwloader?

Anyway, show me the command lines that you use for the download and export, including quotes and stuff... The ones that you have in a batch file or whatever...

Hi Guys,

I just got back into town. It looks like you have made good progress. Smile

I just dl'd the GUI package. I have MCE 05 and am getting the following error
"Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer fo
r 'MceEpgDownloader.MceEpgDownloader' threw an exception. ---> System.DllNotFoun

Any ideas? the custsat.dll is in the ehome directory (and several other places on the system)

Did you get the version from the wiki? Can you post the logs? What directory have you installed the GUI?
Have you ever had whurlstons utils working alone?

I got it off the wiki about an hour ago. The GUI is in C:/EPG. I don't know what logs you need. There are none in the C:EPG folder. I never get past a blank dos box when I try to launch the downloader program. It just throws the error as posted. I had the mce2xmltv working well. Then I went out of town before getting whurlstons downloader working. it was also throwing an exception, but I did not have time to look into it. I will go back and try to run it again. Awsome work! Thanks.

I simply just run the VistaEPG2Xlmltv.exe file in your program that I've moved to my F:\EPG directory. Double click it and off it goes. This will work perfectly every time until I run your MCE2Xml_GUI.exe file. Then, only a reload of the MCE guide will allow it to work again. I use no command line at all. It drops the xml file in the same F:\EPG folder.

If you're going to use the GUI, don't use the other utils. The GUI calls them.

If you start the GUI, then it will create a log, same name as the GUI in the same folder...

Sorry, I mistyped. I did not use the utils, I just put the GUI program from the wiki into a new EPG folder on the c drive, tried to launch it and got that error. There are no logs in the new EPG folder. Do I need to remove all of the older versions of the utilities?

I downloaded the latest GUI utility from the wiki to give it a shoot and it encountered a couple of Vista problems right off the bat.

First "Copying SQLite3VB.dll to: C:\Windows" is in the logs and that is a protected folder so I get a failure.

2. Click start service and the Ready! comes up but the ehsched service isn't.

3. After manually starting the service Manual Download also hangs at 25% in VistaEpgDownload I have to end task but when I do this I lose the last error message. I reran with the utility as Administrator and it didn't work either.

This process runs fine from my 5 line batch file.

As and update,

I tried whurlstons utils via batch files. Both work fine. First, I was able to get the frontend ID, then download a huge EPG. Then I used the converter and it wrote an xmltv file and it put it where I wanted.

I have not turned off any services for MCE. I executed them both manually one after each other. I was not able to use the batch file from a previous post. I got some errors about directories that I have not bothered sorting since I knew the GUI was coming. That said, any suggestions on getting the GUI up. Am I correct in thinking all I should have to do is extract the program from the wiki into my new c:\EPG folder and execute it?

So it appears that you already had an c:\EPG folder. Well.

You can copy over the contents of the zip into that folder and overwrite as necessary. There are several support file necessary.

And it seems we're having a permissions issue here. Do you admin rights?
