As Brian said, post the logs.

How many channels do you have, and how many days worth of listings are you trying to grab?

That error really does look like a firewall getting in the way.

If you want to PM me your zap2it username/password, I'll try it here to make sure there is nothing funny about your account that is causing the zap2it end to abort the request.

Well your logs reference the same error message and makes it look like gbpvr isn't able to make a connection with the zap2it server. Maybe Sub has some more insight.

Alright, I sent the PM with my username and password. If it is a firewall issue, why would it crop up without the installation of any new hardware? And why would XMLTV be able to retrieve the listings?

I tried your username and password here, and the listings came down just fine.

Sorry I dont have an answer for you - I'm just telling you my interpretation of the error message. Given other people arnt having this problem, there has got to be something installed on your machine that is getting in the way of this communication.

Well, I tried a fresh install of GB-PVR, and no go there. I wish I could figure out what the heck would cause such a radical change.

Also, why would XMLTV GUI work (except it doesn't sort channels correctly) and not GB-PVR's attempt at grabbing the info?

And there was a confirmed case here recently where installing 'Email software' caused a 'firewall issue'. Removing the software cured the problem. Unfortunately that is second hand information so I can't give any more details (or even half believe the story).
Sorry, I'm not thinking straight. I meant to say software.

A software firewall could easily be allowing XMLTV while disallowing GB-PVR's Config app. Alternatively, it could be something that interfere's with .NET's networking capabilities (which would affect GB-PVR as a .NET app, but not XMLTV).

It might be worth trying to do the 'Update EPG' from the System screen in the GB-PVR app, rather than from the config app. It may behave differently.

That didn't seem to do anything.

However, this definitely does seem to be a software issue, as I installed GB-PVR on a PC without a capture card and it was able to update using my username and password just fine. How would I go about narrowing down possible suspects?
