I'll definitely test it after my hike though (Grand Canyon). Thanks for all this.

ZRename is BIG enough that it wouldn't get lost in the Grand Canyon.

Be sure to check out the last, newest version.. (1.0.74 at the moment)

Grand Canyon was an interesting experience. I've done it before but not this part and one of the crew got heat exhaustion (no good).

But anyway, testing 1.0.74:
I passed an avi to it (i autotranscode everything) and i noticed the following error:
When passed in your postprocessing (which assumes mpg) it fails but then it checks for the avi but once it finds it it dosn't re-search the database. That should be different I think. If it finds a diff extension perhaps research for the info. Log:

So I changed it to use the .avi extension (in postprocessing). The issue is that it still won't change the name:

Now, if I load that file in manually it works with the following result:
Quote:5/20/2007 8:54:51 PM : ***************************

I can't tell whats wrong. This file is old enough to be in the database I had uploaded.

I'm gonna do this "bug" as its own post since its so long.

Ver 1.0.74

24 works great without I-XMLTV. (I may be installing that pretty soon though). So thanks and well done.

While testing postprocessing on 24 I draged the file onto the same .bat as above (and its an avi) and this time it worked. Log:

Don't know whats going on but having a bunch of files name The O.C. is not so good Smile Also tested it with an NCIS episode and Num3rs episode and it worked.

As soon as whatever from above is figured out I'm gonna include this in my postprocessing as standard for my mediapc.

Seems the OC is causing us problems. One of the confusing things I saw in the logs was that you were passing the file (as in dropping on a .bat) file, and then immediately selecting the same file (as in running manual)

It doesn't look like enough time for you to have reset the database and file names to original to try. I suspect that when it didn't work one way, you went ahead and tried again immediately after...

The confusing part is, I wondered if Manual ALWAYS worked...

I believe it has something to do with Autoconverting. I wrote ZRename very specifically to be run before a transcode. It's failing because the file name was changed but the GB-PVR db wasn't updated with the new .avi filename.

Anyway, let's make sure that ZRename works all the time for all shows Manually. In the meantime, let me have a look at your processing bat.

And to be clear, when you say auto convert, you mean the one built into GB-PVR, and then when is the batch file called...

I need to know the order in which you are processing the files...

Manual always worked. I just renamed the file back and then ran the manual. A few times I loaded the file up manually to make sure it'd rename. Then dragged and dropped it (didn't commit to the manual change).

Attached in a zip is my custom postprocressing that transcodes, cuts commercials etc. Its actually called from another bat file the cycles through a list of files each morning at 2:05am.

I also included the zrenamepostprocessing I was using.

let me know how else I can assist.

If you pop on, I'm currently working on a new version. Have some ideas to help us out. In the meantime...

Glad Manual always works. That means we're totally on the right track.
Gotta ask, always as in even with the OC eps?

Next, I want to break the next part of troubleshooting into two parts.

(Wait until I have the newest version out, due in a couple of hours from now...)

First, I want to be sure that ZRename works always in automatic mode, but NOT part of your postprocessing scheme. That means, dropping files onto the ZRenamePostProcessing.bat or using this method... Or maybe the Open with context menu: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manua...Intro#toc5 (you don't need to pick a batch file, you can pick anything...)

Next I'd like to know the path that your file takes...
example...

1.GB-PVR records video, comskip runs concurrently
2. PostProcessing.bat adds file to transcode queue
3. Later Windows Scheduler calls a ProcessQueue batch file that processes each item in the queue
4. Renamed
5. ComCleaned
6. Transcoded
7. Backed up

etc...

I think that you missed one or two of the batch files you would use for some of this...

Some reasons.
ZRename was originally written for processing MPGs not already transcoded AVI. I'd have to add logic

I've played, and I think there is a logical order for post processing, that dictates when a file is renamed, especially if you use a batch file, (keeping names straight throughout the batch file.)

ZProcess already works very well as an all in one queue processor, including ZRename, ComClean (I know you use VideoRedo - totaly doable - just have to debate that with me a bit), comskip, reencode, and of course Transcode. If you like the parameters in Stattik's batch file, they can be used with ZProcess. Same dif...

My focus is an all in one solution, with a proven, tried and true, order for post processing.... And since you're already doing this, you're a prime candidate to put ZProcess through it's paces too (though it's much more mature than ZRename and won't need that much more)

Anyway, I also want all of my tools to work independently, so what we're doing here is really good...

Here you go Oz. Try 76...

I still haven't looked at the OC again, because I beat that one silly before. I believe the problem was in the gathering of the information, and when failed, it went with a super generic filename.

Anyway, there's a new option, to abort if there's no information. That way the file name still looks ugly, but at least it's still identifiable...

I also fixed up the logging so that I would tell if you popped the file in Manual or automatic modes...

I couldn't tell from you batch files, how ZRename fit into the whole picture, but I think that it should be able to fit at anytime in the batch file.

And as said before, I'd really like to see if ZProcess will do what you want...

Tucson, Arizona, we're running pacific time right now.

Quote:Glad Manual always works. That means we're totally on the right track.
Gotta ask, always as in even with the OC eps?
Yes, it worked for the OC even the eps that failed when dropped on the batch file. That was what I found super weird.

I'll test this build out in the morning.

I hadn't included zrename in my postprocessing yet. I was just running it off the bat file included. Just dragging and dropping it on since nothing records for me over the weekend.

Also, the way my system runs is:
PostProcessing
Add the filename to TranscodeQ.txt

Nightly processing
1. Copy TranscodeQ.txt to active_transcode.txt
2. Delete TranscodeQ.txt
3. Loop through the list doing the following:
a. Run comskip
b. Cut commercials with videoredo
c. delete the comskip and videoredo files
d. xvid convert with super old version of stattik's script
e. delete the original mpg

Now zrename would be step f. and run right at the end.

I had at one point looked into zprocess but at the time it was more for the mvp and not as much transcoding. It seems to have caught up so I may try again. It would make life a lot easier Smile

I actually don't like the parameters that much in stattik's file but they seem to give the best size to quality ratio. I really want to do a double pass transcode and have the program attempt for a size of 350mb. All my playing never seemed to do it though.
