worked without dir= option...Smile
and my goof, the exclude list needs to be in 4 digit format [0423] so that may be why it didn't exclude anything...:o

retrying now..also tried a filename for output just to see..

UPDATE:
nope, excludes not working..all channels and programs still..even tried specifying path..you think maybe the call names instead?
and not sure why dir=c:\ wouldn't work...[using dir=c:\somedir\ does tho]

pBS Wrote:does it force a download of epg data from the net? or does it rely on the normal scheduler?
It does not download. That will be a separate app. Starting on it Monday.

pBS Wrote:about the exclude list, it might be easier to make an 'include' list rather than a exlude one, as that was one of my biggest complaints about zap2it, they would constantly add new channels that were of no interest or even in a language i could understand, and i had to go and remove them all the time..
I plan on adding an include.txt It will override the exclude.txt. In other words, if you have an include.txt, it will create an xml file for all channels listed in it regardless of what the exclude file has. It will create listings for ONLY the channels in the include.txt

pBS Wrote:plus, doesn't it honor the deselected channels in the MCE interface? wouldn't that list already be pruned from MCE?
No it doesn't. I have not bothered even looking into it really. I suspect it may be more difficult than I care to bother with especially once the downloader is implemented.

pBS Wrote:got error message after the channels processing..

i used days=1 name=1 "dir=c:\" for arguments...
can we specify the filename?

You cannot currently specify the filename. I'll add it as an option in the next build. Use that dir statement without the quotes since there are no spaces in it. For some reason, if you use quotes on a option without spaces, windows sends the quote character as part of the option, so your path ends up being c:\"filename.xml

days= is not currently an option in the MCE grabber, only the Y! because the Y! version is so much slower. I was able to process the MCE data much faster so I didn't bother adding that option. It won't hurt anything, it will just be ignored.

Strange, mine did not require 4 digits. It must be the way your channel numbers are stored in the database. It may be that way because of the satellite lineup as a source. I'm currently comparing the channel numbers as text. I'll switch it to integer comparison in the next build then it should not matter.

cool, thanx..i was just trying to provide some feedback on how it was working...

i think the 4 digit thing is a update addition...this system didin't originally have sat. setup, just antenna, but it has digital and those are all 4 digit..Smile

i excluded a lot of channels in the MCE app so i assumed it wouldn't keep the extraneous data but it seems to have...maybe the guide hasn't really updated since i updated just recently..i'll reset the date thingy in registry and force one from menus..

funny but i tried to replace the channnel list with replchannlist.exe and it did but gbpvr kept importing all the channels, unlike the other guides...when i do that to them, GBPVR ignores the deleted channel's data successfully....
with this data, i see the deleted channels added as numbers in the channel list in gbpvr..[even tho they don't exist in the xml's channel id's]
just something odd...Smile

I just tried to test drive this one and have had some success but need some help. I have 2 issues:
1) it creates the xmltv file and it brings in all the channel info into config, but in the guide, the channels show, but not guide data. The data is in the xml file though. How do I trouble shoot this? This is the log info that looks like the problem?
2007-07-21 13:14:05.968 VERBOSE [3] Loading XMLTV File: C:\WINDOWS\ehome\NC32529-.xml

2007-07-21 13:14:06.968 VERBOSE [3] - channel HBO : 0 shows
2) I never have used command line switches before, but from what I can tell, I need to do something like this " C:\WINDOWS\ehome\Mce05Epg2XmlTv.exe /dir=<C:\xmltvout> " if I want it to go into another directory called xmltvout on the C drive. I tried this and it kills your program when it tries to write the file. What stupid thing am I doing wrong? (I am just making this up as I go:eek: )

Update on my above problem. I went into the xmltv file and found that there were 2 channel 0066 listed. The channel name is INSP/EWTN. It looks like it broke this into 2 channel id's called INSP and EWTN. I deleted one of them and it now loads the guide data. The problem is now everytime it processes the MCE epg, it adds the channel back so I have 2 channel 66's. (and it crashes the guide population)

Interesting. Can you zip and post the newest xml file in your EPG directory?
For Vista, it is c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\ehome\EPG
For 05, it is c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\ehome\EPG

If it's too big to post, you can email it to whurlston<AT>oshinetworks<DOT>com

I'm sure I can come up with a fix, but I would like to take a look at your scenario first. If anything, I can modify the exclude option (and the include option when I add it) so you can use callsigns as well.

As for the command line options you want, try:
C:\WINDOWS\ehome\Mce05Epg2XmlTv.exe dir=C:\xmltvout

The options don't need the "/" and the "<" and ">" were just to show where to put what you want. I'll be making a modification tothe next version where you will be able t use the "/" without it bombing since some people are used to using them.

The command line stuff works great nowSmile Also, I used it to eliminate both channel 66's and all is well. I don't need that channel anyway. You may want to understand the problem, but I don't need it fixed. Way cool! Thanks.

Cool. I'll look at it but won't make it a priority then.
