just setup the latest video card drivers from intel, then download the avivo package from ati, look under seperate downloads, or search this forum for the mux page, that ati mux also includes the decoders and encoders..
once you have the atidvcr.dll, run "regsvr32 atidvcr.dll"
install dot-net 3.x to get evr renderer...
install the evr patch in windows\system32 for XP from the forums..[evr.dll] if using XP..
then run config and select evr renderer, and ati mpeg video decoder..
then have fun...
might also work ok in vmr9... try it out...Smile

with gma3000 or better you can use vmr9 too Smile

I didn't think you could get DXVA2 on EVR in XP, even with EVR.dll

yea, seems to be working cuz cpu is lower than vmr9 even...
tho it may be dxva1 with evr in reality..

i'm very happy with the quality of the intel over the ati x3650 i have, even with the ati having 750 core and 1600 mem speeds! makes no sense to me except for the drivers and maybe problems with pcie interface..tho i note this ati card is only 128 bit mem interface, so that may be it right there...[intels are 256 bit]

i'm going to see if i can get an older 256 bit card and see how it performs..

true, the pic quality is nicer on the ati, but not that much..the intel drivers have anisotropic filtering too...

i'm really looking forward to getting a 'fly creek' board with even better video in a c2d mini-itx board...Big Grin now that will rock!
and supposed to be a *much* better video chip..Big Grin

here's a nice little GMA950 Atom mini-ITX board soon to be on sale next month... $80 not a bad price with cpu/fan and should have enough grunt to do HD easily...
http://www.logicsupply.com/products/d945gclf
has tv outs and hdmi option board..

oh and here's a nice add2 hdmi board also..[can be hard to find]
http://www.logicsupply.com/products/ms_9904
has hdmi outs with sound cable...tiny...
use with any gma950 or better intel video..

Looks like the HDMI add-on board is PCI-Express but the mainboard only has PCI - so you might want to rethink this combo

LOL, another point: the CPU has no fan (great Wink), but the chipset still has one... it's tiny & most likely loud/high pitched...

:o i meant that add2 board was for other systems...sorry bout that..
and ummm, that is the cpu with the fan...the chipset has heatsink only..
it says at top, 'cpu with fan' just a different layout than norm...
small isn't always fast/loud...remember these are low power..

i'm pretty sure there's a header for tv outs, possibly component..
but my gma950 looks fine thru vga output, looks like livetv..
i even saw a G965 itx too..w/pcie....but for 230$
so this one is nice for a *cheap* mini system...almost as cheap as a GLY2 but with much more ooomph...[specially in the video area]
with a cheap case, less than 200 for a sweet mini...

still,i'm holding out for the fly creek boards...just wonder how much they'll cost..
[prolly 150-$200 range]
and i've seen some pics with pci, some with pcie...none yet with both...
i vote for pcie Smile [i have a m780 pcie..lol]

sorry to contradict, but it's definitely the chipset with the 40mm fan. CPU has TDP of 2.05-20W, the chipset in contradiction allways eats up > 20W as far as i remember. one german review tested running the setup without the fan, the chipset temps were somewhere about 70°C (compared to ~35°C with fan running). it really sucks. given a better chipset (lower TDP) & a bigger heatsink that setup could run with no fan...
