The card arrived today and seems very good. It found 400 odd channels on Astra 2D in its own software and crashes after scanning 100 or so in 1.2.9.

I have just seen that 1.2.13 is out so will see if this fixes it.

BBC HD can be seen with default settings, playback is jerky but that can be looked at later and may also be better with 1.2.13.

Overall I am very happy for that price and a very quick delivery too!

Time to tinker again...

Mine arrived yesterday, but I was too busy playing with my currys auction TV that turned up Wink

I had to take an angle grinder to my case as the top RF Out plug was too close to the top to let the card be plugged in.

Scanning produces 100's of channels with "unknown" as name and none visible in the preview window. I'm too busy to spend a lot of time on it at the moment.

I did notice that it causes a lot of RF noise and the weak, top-end DVB-T channel is now pixelated and noisy when the s-350 is plugged in. I may have to shuffle them round a bit.

Are you sure about that statement? I use my angle grinder to cut concrete or remove parts from cars when a welding torch and club hammer have failed to do the trick.

If I find a PCI card which doesn't fit my case properley, I just use a scewdriver and a pair of pliers to adjust the backplate to fit.

Cheers,
Brian

Yup, real angle grinder (4" rather than 8" though!) with a very narrow "plasma" blade.

My case is an old "real" case and the metal is of substantial thickness. I tried some sheetmetal cutters but it wouldn't touch it. There just wasn't enough gap between the upper connector and the case. I note in my "normal use" machine that the metal I had to cut away isn't present on that.

If you can picture the bit of the case where the screw holes for cards are - in mine this was solid metal all the way along on the problem machine, so slotting cards down with "sticky out bits" isn't easy.

On the plus side, the case is very quiet, with a monster PSU. but my mobo looks tiny inside.

Has anyone managed to get a proper scan with this card? I was close, but there seems a small problem.

I have copied someone else's scan.cache and it works fine now.
BBC HD runs perfectly on the PCH connected to the new(ish) LCD.
Still sat in the test machine rather than the main server, but looks promising for a move to the big box over the weekend.

No, mine does not scan properly but it does work ok with its own software and with other peoples scan data.

I ended up buying a whole new HTPC as a result of getting this "cheap" card, just to get Heroes in HD!

It does look great once you get the channels but from the sounds of it, if someone is looking for an easy life then I would get another card which does scan more reliably.

I can't remember if I mananged to get a full scan out of my Compro or whether I just imported another scan. I have a feeling it was the latter!

My second Compro is doing very well indeed.

I might ask sub to have a look when he gets back and may have a little time available.
I think everything else it working with it - just the scan that seems to be missing bits out.
progdvb and dvdpro manage to get a channel list from the beast.
If not, then I may have a try to exports the scan list from one of these other programs.

When I get back in NZ, if someone can provide me a 200MB or so full ts recording from one of these frequencies, I'll look into it.
