Does this new release make it easier to configure/setup the popcorn hour client? Is there a simplified set of instructions posted somewhere to setup the popcorn for use with gbpvr? I would also like to get the movie wiz plugin working with the popcorn hour also from what I have read this would be the functionality I am looking to get out of the popcorn.

Yes. Previously you had to install GB-PVR 1.2.9 and a big pile of patches. Those patches are all part of the main 1.2.13 release now, so the GB-PVR side is definitely easier.

You still have to do a few steps to get the PCH side of things, but its not too bad, and there is several people here that will help you if you have any problems. Syabas had indicated they intend to provide a mechanism to run user apps in future, so if they ever come though then hopefully we'll be able to simplify this side of things.

See a run down of the steps here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/NMT

If you have any problems, post some details here http://forums.gbpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39

I havnt personally used MovieWiz, so cant give you too much advice on setting it up, but from what I've seen/read it sounds pretty good. If you have any problems setting it up, post a question in the MovieWiz forum, and I'm sure it'll be resolved pretty quickly http://forums.gbpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31

Sub,

couldn't see where else to post this. Have to be honest upgrades in the past have been a bit hit and miss, with extra fiddling. Today, straight through, ran, installed, fired up, seamless.

Thanks very much

Upgrade went reasonably smooth for me. Had a few seconds of uncertainty, though; when I started the install program, a box appeared saying something like "install was interrupted, do you want to resume?". I clicked on the "yes" button, and everything went as usual after that.

As has been usual, my custom settings for VideoProcAmp and recording quality in direct.ini all reverted to their defaults, but from past experience I've learned to keep a copy of it in another directory that isn't overwritten by the installer.

I was unhappy to see that GBPVR.EXE was gone. I understood in advance that you weren't supporting it anymore, and I don't really need it since my "new" video card can run PVRX2.EXE, but I was using the kitschy tv set icon in the old executable for some desktop shortcuts to my video folders. I didn't expect the installer would erase the file, I just thought it would ignore it. No big deal, though, because I had a copy of an older version, and was able to extract the icon from that.

Thanks, sub, for all your work on GBPVR, and I'll rummage through my sofa cushions to see if I can scrape up some change for another donation. Big Grin

Hi Sub, I've just had a couple of issues with the new release, I'll post my logs when I get home:
Same as Krazzen, setup screen from within PVRX2 just flashes then dissapears
Now have issues with h.264 (NZ) ts files playback - fast fwd (skip button) now results in big delay then sound & picture 30 secs apart (advances audio but not video)
Ripped DVD (vobs) playback under my videos results in video (and DVD menues etc) but no sound.

Like I said, I'll post some logs when I get a chance. The setup ran like a charm though!!

Does this mean pvrx2 supports the -OnlyUpdateEPG and -OnlyEmptyEPG commandline options now? Cause I'm using a batch file to update the EPG.

Seeing the GBPVR.exe has been removed from this release, and ONLY PVRx2 is now available: IF PVRx2 has NEVER worked properly on my computer (Intel Dual core 2.8Mhz with 200GB SAYAhd and 256Mb ASUS nVidea AGP video card running Windows XP sevice pack 3 - Hauppauge HVR-1600) in earlier releases of this program, should I expect it to magically start working now? BTW GBPVR has always worked flawlessly (well except the EPG update which seems flakey). Problems with PVRX2 seem to vary depending on configuration. USUALLY PVRX2 live video alternates from slow to fast. Sometimes the live video is correct, but no on screen tools work (pause, channel change, exit), in the latest variation, whenever the non-working on screen tools are visible, the video from the first second of PVRx2 operation shows up.. no matter if it is two minutes later, or two hours later.

So until you can tell me that PVRx2 will work as intended on my computer, I will stick with version 1.2.9.

Sweet upgrade! I had to go into services and check the "Interact with desktop" box so that the MVPIcon's would show up on the systray, and switch the logic for the MVP incremental updates, then all was awesome. Smile
