Yes, it records .ts files. It'd probably work in a client/server setup with a 'file sharing mode' client, but I havnt tested it myself.

bigstusexy Wrote:See thats the thing, I can't find "Hauppauge HD PVR Encoder" which category are you looking under?

I can find:
Directshow filters > Arcsoft Video Encoder
This doesn't have the options you speak of and the only Hauppauge filters I find deal with winTV for my 350
and
Video Capture Soruces > Hauppauge HD Video Capture Device
This too doesn't have the options you speak of.
Video Compressors > ArcSoft Mpeg and Realtime Capture
These do have some GOP setting area's but I think its more for the PVR series of cards that the HD it seems to be more mpeg2 focused.

I'm pretty sure its in some simple place right under my noose and I just haven't seen it yet.

It's under "WDM Streaming Multiplexer Devices" on my recording PC. Realize that depending on what version of the driver your running, that any changes you make will not survive a power cycling on the HD PVR.

Thanks for the location and thanks for the tip too! I don't really plan to turn the device off but if things keep going like they are I might not ever turn it on heh Smile

I'm going to call the company either now or tomorrow. Since last night I haven't been able to get it to lock except for a few seconds, I put a 110v fan right to its left where it gets hottest and it still won't function.

So, I dl'ed 1.3.7 and installed it, and upgraded to Haupaugge's 1.1 driver. Before it was wrking fine with the old driver (aac only). It is now locking up after 1 second of recording. do i need to change any settings to get it to work with the new AC3 stream?

There are no settings that I know of. There are other people having problems (including me) with 1.3.7 and the HD PVR. Mine doesn't lock up but I don't get any video.

Yeah don't know how much testing was done for the HD-PVR prior to releasing 1.3.7, but I have to keep going into ArcSoft Extreme and changing the settings back to AAC and to use the rca jacks. It still locks up alot and I will sometimes get no video but audio. I don't know if Sub even has a HD-PVR to test with.

For both you and Beav 35, here are some suggestions that might help.

First lock what your recording from to one resolution (for instance, my cable box is locked to outputting 720P) this should prevent the issue of "confusing" the HD PVR and causeing it to lock. You should also set your TV type (16:9 or 4:3) and what you want as a setting for display if you try to display a 4:3 signal to a 16:9 tv set (stretch in my case). With all these settings forced at the device your recording from, the HD PVR never has to change the resolution it captures at eliminating one possible cause for your problems. On a Motorola cable box, this is done by powering the box off and hitting menu immediately, most other devices should have similar options if a different way to get to them. *NOTE this will make your recordings larger in some cases*

Next up, is to download Netgraph and change a few settings on the HD PVR's "Hauppauge HD PVR Encoder" filter which is found under "WDM Streaming Multiplexer Devices" category. You don't need to create a working graph, just drag the filter on the page, right click it and select properties. From here you can turn the "bling lights" off during recording and select other other options that may help compatability with other devices / players. I changed the GOP setting on mine to "Simple 4/32/128" to help on PS3 playback in my case, these changes will not survive a reboot of the HD PVR in most driver revisions so keep this in mind. You can play with a few other settings here as well to suit your needs.

If your HD PVR still gives you problems with lockups it's either faulty cableing, faulty device your recording from or a faulty HD PVR. Of course there can be many other issue's preventing it from working right in your situation but they should NOT lock the HD PVR.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, perhaps I was not clear. I have ZERO problems with recordings on the HD-PVR (except I haven't gotten the spdif audio working). ALL of the issues are around PVRX2. They are playback issues when trying watch either LiveTV or a recording from the HD-PVR. Playback for H264 MKV files or recordings off my digital QAM cards are all fine. It is ONLY when watching content from the HD-PVR.

You can also use the ArcSoft TotalMedia to make the changes you are doing in Netgraph (still won't survive a reboot, but it is very easy to use).

After looking at this some more, LiveTV does not have the lockups or black screens (or happens VERY rarely). I don't watch a lot of LiveTV, so didn't realize it was pretty much only recordings that were doing it.

Hey everyone, I sent in my old C2 and got a replacement from the company, took about a week. The new unit is revision E2, I don't can't hear a fan but people say it has one and it has vents on the bottom, the back RCA panel seems firm as well. The Unit does get hot but there is one spot on the top that gets warm.

Good news is that I've had it plugged in and running since I got it, its only been off for a few seconds because I kicked the AC plug by mistake. Other than that its fine. I haven't recorded because I'm still going to need a way to cut the files and haven't found anything suitable yet. So far every once in a while I change resolutions, my provider's box doesn't output dynamically so I much choose. Works just fine. The new box came with 1.52 but I saw 1.53 and installed it instead. I'm using Optical sound (remember don't physically connect RCA audio when you do this) So far I'm happy, the only thing I'm worried about is that since its winter my room is much cooler I hope this doesn't turn sour as the days gets hotter months later when the warranty is over.
