Thanks for all the good suggestions. I'm at work right now, but I will follow your instructions when I get home tonight and let you know what happens. I appreciate all of your help.

I did remember to set interact with the desktop.

What version of the dongle.bin do you use? Does it make any difference?

Thanks

We haven't talked OS, so I don';t know if you're using Vista. I'm a big believer in defaults (and only break them wehn they suit me Big Grin ) So I use the default dongle, though I understand Vista users are having trouble with that...

I'm reasonably certain I nailed it. After I upgraded to 1.3.11 and ran ZProcess, it said it needed to change the 'Interact' setting. Then all hell broke loose.

One symptom I saw was it looked like two PVRX2 MVP servers were launched (I auto start only one) and they were each in different log on sessions.

I could transcode a dvrms, but for some reason the alt Trans2MVP and ZTranscode were launched away from desktop (hidden) which is not supposed to happen.

I toggled the 'Interact' setting (off and then on- manually as described) and then everything immediately started working.

And it makes sense too. A Service has a bunch of settings in the registry. I always thought it was too easy to just change one setting, and restart the service... So for now, my programs will warn and halt, forcing a user to make the change manually...

Let's cross out fingers

---

Soon I will add support for checking version number of Trans2MVP.exe (replacement) and make sure it is copied over, and remove some legwork.

I'll also make sure it does version checking for ffmpeg-alt.exe, and MEncoder

Thanks to your help, I'm making progress! The dvr-ms test file now plays well on the MVP (at least the first couple of minutes - I'll try a longer file next). Somehow in my thrashing around, I removed the references in config.xml. Duh.

One problem remaining is that the sound on the TS test file is distorted. Sortof choppy and tinny, with almost an echo.

I'm not getting and issues with sound on the TS. Are you using a special receiver or something?

I was using dongle.mvpmc-20080930.bin. I switched back to the default dongle.bin, and the sound is now fine! I've just started a 60 minute dvr-ms file. My cpu is at 50%, but it is playing!

Great! What's your fps about 15 20 minutes into the dvr-ms file?

It had finished transcoding when I saw your question. I'll check another and let you know. Holding at 63fps so far...

It seems the audio is getting out of sync well into the recording. Quality is still good.
Scratch that - I just checked a different recording (another dvr-ms), and the audio is out of sync from the beginning. I didn't notice that on the first video since there was narration but no lips to see...

This makes sense because mvpmc by default will try to sync a/v based on the timestamp. You can disable this via a command line option and just pass the file to the hardware but you could end up with sync problems.

Is the dongle.bin included with gbpvr from mvpmc? I don't see the mvpmc start screen when it loads, just the Hauppauge screen.

No, it is an older version of the Hauppauge dongle. I was explaining why I thought you were having mvpmc significant sound problems originally and why you are now having sync problems.
