Thanks Martin, I've got my cross compiler installed and working now, and the original lircd compiling cleanly. Let me have your mods when you can. No rush though as I'm at a family golden wedding this weekend, so wont be able to do much.

yea, i noticed the repeats too...it is a faster remote tho...
i'd be interested if you get it working better..
i'd also be in favor of a .lircrc version, it would add another file to copy but that's not much...

one problem i'm having is loading the lircd and staying in gaya...
it loads fine when i go into mvpmcx2, but trying to load it and just go back to my htm menu isn't working..
it locks up removing remote support for both, and gaya never returns.
[i'm trying to auto-load it without mvpmcx2]
maybe i need to kill and reload gaya?

oh and i almost have my scripts ready..making them look nicer..
also making it use a variable, so user-edits are easier..

Have a go running this file from you PCH (after killall gaya killall lircd) If you get Syscode 0x800f001c for your various mce remotes we should be set #0-9 should be 0 to 9 too if they are like mine. Hit the same key twice to exit.

I thought of using lircd as a way of launching x2 like they did power off but I think it could be annoying with an accidental hit without monitoring processes etc.

Tried that with the MCE remote, the syscode matches and the numeric keys work. With the MCE keyboard, the remote type keys(>> << back etc) work, but the main keyboard section doesn't return anything. not even the 0-9 keys. Is that an amended version of irscan, cus the one I compiled didn't work with the mce remote.

Good, I will post a new lircd tomorrow. Yes I modified it, the Syabas reference code doesn't work as is.

irscan isn't for the keyboard. kbd.c has that, but most keyboards should already be working with lircd

If anyone with an MCE remote with these colour keys could run irscan and give me the 4 key codes for these keys that would be helpful. My MCE remotes are from Hauppauge and they don't have the 4 colour keys but I notice here are other samples that do have them http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MCE_Remote

here's the codes for the colors..
btw,there's 8 category buttons on vista/win7 remotes..[video/dvd/tv/etc]
while the mvp remote has 6 cat. buttons, the regular mce remotes have only 4 but the Vista's have 8..
[normal mce has recordings,guide,livetv,dvd....vistas add videos,music,photos,games?]

want me to grab those?

Thanks pBS, I don't need more codes for now, in fact the standard 4 codes will have to double for the colour keys.
