Do you have a Hauppauge 45 button remote? If so, what did you edit to get it to work with this?

Also you said that Netflix TX Database Build.exe can be run in the UpdateEPG.bat. Before I added it, I tried it by just double clicking it. It goes so fast (a flash) that I dont know if it really did its job. Does this sound right?

Hey Snooze,

No, I have an MCE remote, came with my Hauppauge 2250. But I have been using Event Ghost for my remote control. If you are interested, I can send you my event ghost macro list (includes GBPVR, Netflix Viewer, Hulu Desktop, Nero Player, and Media Player).

The database Build file only updates the database at the interval set in the options menu (Ctrl-o), or can be accessed from the file menu. Also, how you select a new genre for the main screen. Right now it should be set to update every 30 days. When it flashes, it checks how old the informaiton is and only updates it when it is older than the specified days. As an aside, if you ever need to force an update, you just need to change the days to 0 and reopen the viewer program (should take about 10 minutes to update).

Thanks for the offer, but I will try to get it setup in irremote.ini when I have some free time.

Ok on the update stuff.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I might get my hauppauge 1600 working with this plugin? I was never able to get the other netflix plugin to run. This one does everything I need and works fine from a keyboard but would be really nice to use the remote.

Hey HighestBid,

You need to use a program that captures your remote events and sends key events. there is a bunch of info on it at: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/Hardware

If you go with EventGhost I can send you my template, which includes GBPVR and my NetflixTXViewer program.

I have been playing with this app and was playing with the remote, it works about 50%... :o Something has changed so netflix_control that I posted in Whurlstons Netflix Watch Now Plugin doesn't work 100% anymore so I am trying this app.

In this app, in the menu, the following will allow you to use Arrow Up/Down, Page Up/Down, OK (to start), teletext jump, exit/menu closes the app. I cannot get Ctrl-O (options) or Ctrl-S (search) to work. It just does the teletext thing and jumps to shows beginning with O or S...

If it is not playing in full screen you can pause, play, stop/exit. If it is in full screen it does not work. I cannot tell what is taking over focus so I cannot get it to work. If anyone can see what I am doing wrong, please let me know. I am getting a little tired already so nothing is obvious. Sad

Go to C:\windows and backup your IRRemote.ini file. Then In IRremote.ini you add the stuff in red, after you are done you need to restart IR or reboot.

EDIT: See Post 30

Hey Snooze,

As for the full screen problems:
I use a web browser to play the movies, so when it is in full screen it might be losing the IR codes, since I think it recognizes your browser as having focus. Until you mentioned this I didn't even think about it, because I have the pause/play keys in EventGhost mapped to the space bar, from playing the movies through the web previously. Is there a way for you to make sure your IR codes work when in IE, or mozilla? Let me know if this works.

As for the Ctrl-O and Ctrl-S:
Are your green and red buttons working? If you click the green button on a movie not in your queue it should add it and the red deletes it from your queue. If this is working let me know. I'll further look into this when i get home (about an hour).

Also:
Zero Key-you may want to map the 0 (zero) key to a 0 and not space, since the program will see the 0 key and alternate between the space key and 0 (like a cell phone). So it already includes this in the programming.
F10 - I didn't see this on your codes, this brings up an info screen to give you movie info while watching the movie. Can't be in full screen mode when using this. [Latest version]

Hey snooze,

Try the new version, you only need to replace the files Netflix TX Desktop.exe and Netflix TX Database Build.exe. I changed the way the Ctrl-s and ctrl-o keys are handled. Let me know if this fixes your problem.

Yep, I was just working on that. The Ctrl O or Ctrl S had to be held down at the same time. I was just about to post that. I am suspecting thats what you found. If this works, we will have a full working Hauppauge 45 button Remote... WITH FWD and RWD!!

Ok, I think I got it mostly working. Even the ctrl-o and ctrl-s with your last release fixed the problems I was having.

I noticed a few things while testing the numerous trials I made.

1. Using F10 a second time on the same movie just reads the 3 headings, no Info filled in. FIXED

2. Switching back to full screen the sound would sometimes give out (not sure if that's the app or my system). MY ISSUE

3. If the search results could have a nice way of exiting (esc or alt+F4) and go back to the main menu like options does instead of exiting the app. It would prevent a user from having to restart the app. For now I have the exit button to exit the app, and menu button set to open "Options" then you can return back to the main menu with what listings you want to see when you get there (i.e. My Queue, Action... etc.). FIXED

EDIT:
4. It appears the auto fullscreen does not work with video format 4:3, only 16:9. When it does this it seems it attempts to go to fullscreen but fails on 4:3, after that the focus is lost on anything in 4:3 and the keyboard and remote remote are inoperable, until I force it back to fullscreen again with the OSD. FIXED

Anyone can customize these any way they want obviously, this is how I want to have them so I am leaving them like this.

If you are a previous netflix_control/netflix_silverlight_control user, quit using it. Something changed on netflix.com and it does not work the best any more since it looks like they changed the screen size and that utility depended on mouse button locations, unlike now you can use keyboard commands. Cool I disabled mine from startup and shut them down. These irremote.ini commands work for whurlston's Netflix Watch Now plugin too, with exception of "F7 fullscreen" and "F10 Show info". It plays, pauses, stops, fast forward and rewind (>> and <<), in variable speed I might add, you can use the arrow keys to vary the speed forward and back during skip or even stand on one frame while you are deciding to click OK or play to start it at that point. Episodes can now be skipped using (>>| and |<<).

And now for the instructions...

First thing you want to do is kill any netflix_control.exe and netflix_silverlight_control.exe from running. I even deleted the sections out of my irremote.ini file because it causes conflicts. You do not need them any more. Delete from your startup folder if you have them in there too.

Go to C:\windows and backup your IRRemote.ini file. Then In IRremote.ini you add the stuff in red, after you are done you need to restart IR or reboot.

EDIT: Netflix Movie Viewer= MUST be above "Default=" in this order

EDIT: NOW WORKS WITH FULLSCREEN Big Grin (But you have to manually return to fullscreen by pressing the text (*) button)
