index_sd.htm testers required.

I have modified goofygrin's script & I would like them tested before I add this option to the wiki.

I still have some concerns from mvallevand's comment
Quote:It takes too long for my liking and I don't find it is 100% guaranteed

The first part of this I find the total opisite, "for me" it loads a huge amount faster, especially if I press 2 (the number of my mvpmc share) when it gets to the network browser screen it then goes directly to the loading screen & after 3 seconds loads GB-PVR. If I don't press any keys at all it waits approx 30 seconds on the network browser screen & then times-out & automatically jumps to the loading screen & after 3 seconds loads GB-PVR.

The second part of mvallevand's comment is what I am concerned about as I have only been running it for three or four days but so far it has been 100% fine for me. It is no big deal if it does decide not to work as I have left the GB-PVR.html script in my mvpmc share so all I have to do is remove the index_sd.htm script & it is back the way it was.

Do NOT try this unless you have a fully working NMT setup already loading from a share.

Instructions:

Download index(x).zip unzip into your share folder (C:\mvpmc as default) (HD users will have to rename the script index.htm) open GB-PVR.html in a linux editor do not use notepad.exe (if you don't already have one you can get one here http://www.editpadpro.com/editpadlite.html) & find this line

<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/NETWORK_SHARE/PVR-SERVER:mvpmc/gbpvr.cgi">GB-PVR</a>

take a note of the share name.... in this case PVR-SERVER:mvpmc ...(NOTE it is case sensitive) open index_sd.htm in your editor & edit the references to the share (there are three of them, don't miss the one down near the bottom of the script) to be EXACTLY the same as it is in your GB-PVR.html.

Cold boot your NMT & manually select your share for the first time at the network browser screen as it needs to be your last used option for it to work automatically, it should them jump to the loading screen & after 3 seconds load GB-PVR. On the next cold boot of your NMT it should automatically load it you don't press any buttons. Please let me know how you get on.

You misunderstood, I meant autoloading from power-up is not always reliable. If you load the mvpmc share it is pretty good. I was worried that counting on autoload might cause extra telephone calls and hurt the WAF during the transition from an MVP.

No actually that was what I thought your were meaning :p I "have" to power off my EGreat every night as the boss insists I do it (she doesn't like the two bright lights glowing all night) & from what I have read for the EGreat that is the same as a power off? If this is right I actually do a cold restart every day & so far (fingers crossed) it has worked perfectly for me, so well in fact that I now I just hit the power button on my way to make a cuppa & when I get back I turn the TV on & GB is sitting there waiting for me Smile

I have been thinking about this & I wonder if the thing that makes it work is as long as the mvpmc share is the first item in network browser list it will then time-out & select it from a cold boot, but if the first share is not mvpmc it will not work?

The EGreat does have different power off modes. The PCH can turn off the video out which I don't think will restarts index.html well, or a full power off that requires a physical power on.

Test Successful! Using index_sd.htm auto loaded GBPVR immediately upon going to the share. Big Grin

I was unsuccessful previously using the file name sd_index.htm, which I can confirm does not work. Wink

When I cold boot the PCH , it sits at startup screen for ~20 seconds then goes to mvpmc share which now immediately runs index_sd.htm and loads gbpvr. The share is the first item under network browser.

Thanks!

Now I need to determine why my hauppauge remote has stopped working.
What, me worry?

Thanks for the feedback roy I'm glad it now works for you Smile Can you let me know how it goes after using it for a while & any glitches you have please?

I have already add the using a Hauppauge or MCE remote info to the NMT page on the wiki so hopefully you can find the answer there now.

If I have got this right from Martins post? If you are one of the five that have already downloaded one of the scripts & you are a HD user you have to rename "index_sd.htm" to "index.htm" for it to work.

Working fine so far, no glitches.

Actually, it seems it has been working all along, but now has very limited range. The PCH remote works up to about 25 feet away from the PCH, with a fair amount of angle. My Universal remote only works out to about 10 feet away, and only straight on, and the Hauppauge remote only works within 5 feet. Is this normal?

I thought it wasn't working but it just has very limited range. My Universal remote seemed to work fine at first, but now has very limited range.

No I'm sure that's not right, I don't have my A100 hooked up yet (other things seem to keep cropping up that have to be sorted first) but with my M34a the remote that came with it is far less angel restricted than any of the other remotes I tried, but my Hauppauge remotes (MVP & MCE style) both work fine from 14 feet away as long as I have the unit straight in line or slightly kinked to the right (looking at it from the front) but if it gets kinked to the left even only slightly the Hauppauge remote won't work at all.

Yeah that is strange, I assume the batteries are in good nick?
