Duplicate Recordings

My experience of this issue is that the duplicates accumulate over time - I assume over successive epg updates. Ive loaded the patch, added "play school" as a recording and run an epg update. No duplicate on playschool yet - but I have plenty of others. Note I am using the standard record tool and NEWA to record shows. I will move "Shaun the sheep" to the standard recording tool and see if it has duplicates.

Is it possible to develop a fix that would prevent more than one simultaneous/overlapping recording with the same title on the same channel from being added to pending recordings ? Perhaps as a cleanup activity after recordings are scheduled. It would be better to fix the root cause but if it cant be found.

When I experienced the problem, it gave me dublicate recordings every time I scheduled a recurring recording.

Another pecurliarity is that all recordings I have scheduled from NEWA works fine and are recorded, but they never turn red in the tv-guide. I have to look in Pending to see if they are actually scheduled. I'v been wondering why...

Make sure you have that patch applied, and when you notice them appear, post the logs and I'll take a look. There is now good messages to explain what happens with the scheduled recordings at epg update time.

It already effectively has logic that does just that, so I'm not sure why you'd getting duplicates.

Sub - I have moved the most frequently duplicated recordings from NEWA to the standard recording tool. I will monitor it for a few days and let you know what happens. I will then move the recordings back to NEWA and see what happens.

Sub - We will need UJB to determine whether the issue is infact with NEWA (dont want to jump to conclusions) but on the offchance that it may help could you provide UJB with the logic you used to prevent duplicate recordings. You mentioned earlier that you had put in some specific logic for this.

Did you put that same nrecord patch in the web\bin directory.......you need to update both places with patches since NEWA uses files from the web\bin directory.

I get two recordings for the first recording of a newly scheduled recurring recording as well. However future recordings just record once. I can only think of one single recording I did (a Quick Record of a show in progress), and it only recorded once.

I've had the exact same thing happening several times. My setup is 3 tuners with the same channels. When it happens, it usually uses the same tuner for parallel recording of the two shows.

I had this in the early betas, but I believe it was gone in the last beta (24). It came back with this one (28).

I'll get some logs generated.

have you applied the patch file from the sticky thread at the top of the NPVR forum? the rest of us have been unable to reproduce that since applying those patches

I have done the following:
- loaded all the patches to the NPVR folder under program files.
- loaded the nshared.dll and unmanaged.dll to the web/bin folder.
- performed an update epg

I still have many duplicates listed in pending recordings. Is there something else I should do ?

Note that
- the problem occurs only with NEWA recordings.
- I am getting duplicates on more than just the first episode in a series recording. I am getting duplicates on pretty much every episode.

Duplicates have disappeared for me after loading 1.5.31. I will monitor for a few days but it looks good.
