QAM scan finds very few channels

I dont know if it'll help, but you can modify the file in 'C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Tuning\QAM' to replace the channel number (73=73,0,0) with a frequency (73=517250,0,0).

Interestingly his original scan.cache file in post #1 was all frequency based.

Yes, thats why I suggested maybe he should try a frequency instead of channel number.

So I tried every 250 from 511000 to 522000. Nothing. Does the first number in the row matter? This is an example of the 0qam.ini filethat I used:

So, I added a bunch of the channels it did find & edited the database directly to the values that reflected the settings from a GBPVR scan. NPVR seems to be able to tune the channels this way. (When I first looked into doing this, I thought the value in the database was just <tuning>. It hadn't occurred to me to see the full data value & then I realized that <tuning> was just the first line in XML code that I could modify with my values.) I still have no idea why NPVR couldn't find the stations in a scan.
