NPVR + AF9015 USB tuner wont scan for channels

I agree that the mass of different manufacturers drivers and the fact that the 9015 uses different designs and to the odds of not getting a "working " driver

BUT

from personal experience you can get the 9015 type USB tuners to work with the drivers which come with the unit ... and they work with the supplied software ... and in my case they worked with GBPVR and some early versions of NPVR but NPVR must "I guess" must interact with the device in a way the driver / OS combination doesn't like
Yes I know NPVR works with other devices but their drivers dont appear to be as flaky ...

I'm not aware of any significant difference. They do things pretty much the same way. If there is some difference, it'll be something very small, like the order a couple of things are done or something similar.

Well, sort of. NPVR 203 tunes and works fine except it is unreliable, freezing frequently. I'll post some logs when I get some time, but for those of you having problems with the AF9015 tuner I'll explain what I did, hopefully it'll work for you.

The solution seems to be to totally annihalate the AF9015 driver and re-install it.
I also repair installed WinXP pro retail over the original OEM version (not recovery console). Dont know whether that had any effect.

*Warning* Backup your system first - this is not for beginners.

To totally remove driver-
- Find out AF9015 VID and PID with the program "usbdeview"
- Follow the "Complex Uninstall Method" instructions on
ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/51417b.pdf
but use your VID and PID numbers rather than the microchip ones in the example.
Where is says to delete xxxx.sys, I didn't delete anything - but you could delete the xxx.sys files listed in the xxx.inf file.
- Plug in your AF9015 tuner
- Direct windows to where you have your latest driver files.

I'm back to GBPVR for now but hope to have some time to sort out NPVR soon

It shouldnt be. Post the logs and details and I'll take look. Your device might still be misbehaving.
