It appears that the installer might not add the new (in the new version) "elements" to the config.xml file if the install is an upgrade (i.e., config.xml already exists) rather than a new install. (I'm basing this on reports in the support forum where new elements are not in a user's config file). Is this thinking correct? Could the installer be made to put the new elements in? Or is there a permissions issue with some users?

Just thoughts on making life easier.

You do get the new settings in config.xml when you do an upgrade. Infact, when you upgrade, your config.xml is overwritten with a copy of Config-master-dont-edit.xml, and it migrates any old values across from your old file.

Very occasionally I'll forgot to put a setting in Config-master-dont-edit.xml, which is usually the case when you see a user post saying they couldnt find a setting. In these cases I usually take that post as a reminder, and add it for the next release so that it isnt forgotten next time around.

There are sensible defaults for every setting, so it's usually not a huge concern.

Is there anything about retrieving show subtitles? I don't see it in the list, and don't know if third-party software will be able to get them out or not. Apparently the U.S. listings are different than elsewhere. But thanks for the red recording icon; that was my other concern.

Sub, when you have a moment (like late saturday night Big Grin) can you take another look at the teletext subtitle problem?

What do you mean? Do you mean like viewing Closed Captions? With any luck that should already work on digital channels.

I was pretty excited to see this new relesse this morning, so I installed it, only to be disappointed that choppy audio is back. I never had any problems with choppy audio in 2.0.3.

I was referring to the "Rename Recording" problem discussed here
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...Recordings

I was able to use the "RenameRecording" utility with GB-PVR 1.4.7, but lost that functionality with NPVR and have been hoping to get it back ever since. But it seems to be a U.S. specific situation.

NPVR has in its database the title and subtitle. When recording NPVR uses the show title and a time stamp to make up the file name. Having a unique and available subtitle is only really common in the US, so it wouldnt have made sense to use this as a basis for the file name. Sorry. The RenameRecording author, or another developer, could update the utility to use the subtitle as part of the target filename if they wanted though. If its present, then it's there and available to the developer.

BTW, you probably want to give a bit more context than just saying "subtitles" in future. Most people are going think of 'text for the hard of hearing displayed over video'. ie, teletext subtitle, cc subtitles, dvb subtitles, srt subtitles. "Is there anything about retrieving show subtitles" sounds like "is there any way to retrieve and show subtitles for the hard of hearing".
