how about renaming it to "Media Centre" (has a nice ring to it, no?)

m$ cant do anything, theirs is "Media Center Edition" and theres "Xbox Media Center", also the e and r around the right way so yeah, media centre, its genius!

I don't think that's a very good idea for a couple of reasons.

1. Media Centre is (as you pointed out) too generic and hence not usable for branding.
2. Imagine in how many forums, search engines etc.etc. gb-pvr is already an established and communicated notion, concept.
