Bling - making NextPVR pretty

The bling is all that is missing for me but I can live with out it but if it is posibale one thing that might be nice would be to have the show or movie info or plot come up.

It does already show this if it finds it.

But you're very diplomatic in describing the supported files for displaying *blingbling* so i do assume, that <filename>.jpg, fanart.jpg and folder.jpg are the only one who can display a graphic, right?
Or does something like <filename>-fanart.jpg exists (so that within the library with different videos the wall changes while scrolling left/right or up/down).
I am not talking about the fanart.jpg within one subfolder for only one movie, this works very nice.

Correct, though you can also use .png files.

No, there is no functionality that does this.

Hi Sub - i have my videos all in a single folder and it would be nice to be able to have fanart for each of them - so having something like filename-fanart.png or jpg would be useful - can you add that functionality for those that want it?

OTAjunkie can list your folder stucher if I missed it some were in this post I'm sorry for it but this is how mine is set up right now. d:\Movie\movie.mkv folder.jpg movie.xml backdrop.jpg for movies. As for TV shows its E:\TV Show\Season 1\ however may episodes in that season with a folder.jpg then a hiden folder with an .xml file for each episode that points to a .jpg file for each show. As of right now I get no plot rating episode thumb fanart and only one folder.jpg for each show and the folder .jpg for my movies. I should add I use Media Center Master for metadata and jpeg files I did try to install ember and have used it in the past but I switched to MCM for use with mediabrowser. Dose ember do this better or can I still do this with MCM? Thank for any and all help you and every one else have given so far.

I have time to wait for videos+ from imilne. ^^ Where would be the fun if sub includes all the features of the plugin developers in its core application NPVR.

I've discussed this "bling" question on these forums in the past and have tried a number of solutions. IMO NPVR will never be as pretty as apps like XBMC, MP, MCE etc. without a database solution such as they use (this could be via a plugin such as Videos+ which imilne has promised). I'm also only interested in TV series not movies but I think everything will work the same for them. I currently use on my video library with a consistent naming convention but with only some shows in there own directories:

- Metadata grabber (run manually just to be sure it does not do anything unexpected). Currently use an old version of the great WizMetadatagrabber that was part of the Wiz utilities for GB-PVR but I have also has success with Ember revisisted and Media Centre Master. For each video file it can produce metadata files (or for some info imbed it in the file itself) that NPVR will automatically pickup. Specifically, for reach episode, a <filename>.xml for program description and <filename>.jpg for a episode screenshot. For shows in the own directory I also download (manually currently) a folder.jpg from TVDB. This gives the video library a similar look to the recordings section. NPVR can read these files (for metadata, it does not display them as extra files in browsing) and also delete them with the file if necessary (options in Config.xml). I experimented with fanart but that requires a more specific directory structure.

- Have a custom task to launch XBMC that provides a brilliant TV Show interface with automatic database based metatdata (and you need an organised one directory per show directory structure). It has the added benefit of having a great interface to UK based iPlayer etc. This returns me to NPVR on exit.

It is not perfect and I do envy what some of the other platforms have in this area. Ideally I would like to see a way of merging the recording and video NPVR modules and have looked at using vidimport to do this but that never worked.
