I'm not sure, the keyboard reference certainly has more ctrl than alt listed, but that could be wrong.

Technically the colours are Alt+ but sub did keep Ctrl-B The main reason for the change you will see in your list, Ctrl-R for Red is the same code sub (rightfully) decided to use for Rewind in NextPVR.

You are right about that, and I should probably have realised, as I deal with people who don't know what version of Windows they have on a daily basis.

I will try and think of a better way to explain that, or fell free to change it yourself if you like.

Yup, please no offense to those that read this stuff. But in the past when I did IT support and asked what Windows Operating System that people were using I have had replies like Micrsoft Office 2007, Internet Explorer 8 etc.......

So something other than Focus may be of help....?

after a mild deliberation I would have said the obvious thing to do is put a link to 'Focus' in the glossary, what I originally done for GB-PVR, (deliberate mis-use of English there!) and McBainUK most kindly transferred to the NextPVR wiki after getting fed up with me promising I was going to do it!

Glossary

that way it would not interrupt the flow of your great wiki work and for those in doubt of the meaning of focus would have somewhere to look at what it may mean

not sure, as usual, where to put this thead so thought I would follow from where it started.. JP23 did some brilliant work on the wiki.

So if someone wanted to put the word "Focus" into the Glossary

what syntax would they use???!!!

Something like:

"The primary window in a windows operating system that displays to the fore-front of a display"?

Go on I dare you to google it thinking someone on wikipedia got there first!!! They didn't...

OK, if you actualy go to wikipedia and BOTHER searching you do get a vey good answer...

Unless there is a language barrier, if the potential user doesn't know what focus means, they should pass on NextPVR altogether. I know I tend to write things with too high a technical expectation but I strongly feel installing NextPVR is not like installing an app. on a smartphone and it will always take reasonable PC knowledge plus personal commitment and research time to make it work with appropriate WAF.

I would probably just copy and paste the first bit from wikipedia:

'Focus indicates the component of the graphical user interface which is currently selected to receive input. Text entered at the keyboard or pasted from a clipboard is sent to the component which currently has the focus.'

In fact, I'll do it now.

I agree with Martin, anyone who can't follow that is not going to get too far with NPVR anyway.

I found this statement "In fact, the only values that can safely be combined are Keys.Shift, Keys.Control and Keys.Alt - whose values are the key code modifier values (0x00010000, 0x00020000 & 0x00040000, respectively)" so you could adding 0x20000 or 131072 to see if it works as an Alt Key.
