It depends - I'm not sure what you need to do exactly.

If you term "everything" to mean "everything you can do in the NextPVR UI", then neither main http API or NEWA provide everything. Both of these API provide most things though, and probably pretty much everything you'd ever need to do, - ie getting lists of channels and recordings and listings, scheduling recording, cancelling recordings etc.

Having just taken another look at the Media Browser website, let me just make it clear - I'm happy for you to provide integration with NextPVR that is entirely free for your users. I wouldn't want you to integrate it into something that costs money.

How does that differ from reven charging for his Samsung app?

I knew someone would ask that. At the end of the day it's my prerogative. The fact that reven's client represents itself as a NextPVR frontend end, with NextPVR look and feel (and the size of the market I see for a Samsung client), makes it more acceptable to me.

If reven's client exploded in popularity, and we started getting a hundreds of people pushed here looking for support and new features, you can be sure I'd be talking to reven about my cut Big Grin

Not to me, but I figure you knew I'd be that somebody.

if my samsung app explodes and I start getting lots of money, im sure me and sub would start making things way more formal and work a lot closer together.

but the market for the samsung app I doubt is very large, im only expecting about 20-30 users.

and we do have an agreement in place.

Don't get wrong, I don't have any objections in principle to developers charging reven, unless this agreement breaks Schedule Direct"s rule 2 http://www.schedulesdirect.org/sagreement

I don't think that's a problem. I'm happy to discuss it with them if they end up having an issue with it.

yes, that does start to get complicated, doesn't it? if a paid client program provides access to EPG data licensed on the basis that the server is free software, where is the line drawn? If one wanted to be reasonable about it, the argument would probably come down to an analysis of primary or most-likely usage: is the free software for which the EPG data is licensed primarily used to provide data directly to the user via other free software programs, or is the primary usage to provide data to paid programs? i.e. is the free program licensing the data merely a proxy for the paid, commercial program?
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV
