Do I read you correctly in that acamd can also be used to play back encrypted recordings??? I know sub included the mdplugin hooks for when recording, but I see nothing for playback??
No panic for help - it something that would be quite useful for us, but not essential.
As I recall Sub had playback of encrypted recordings in mind in gbpvr, but he gave up the idea for npvr. The source for the offline decrypter is available at JoshyFun's website so I guess if you are a programer you could develop if further, but Acamd needs some programming around it to work during playback. It is actually ffdecsa.dll that does the decrypting, but it is called from Acamd (as I understand it) and NewCS supply the keys for decrypting.

Some tv systems, like the one used by my cable tv provider, change the keys after a period of time and after that it was no longer possible to decrypt a recording. I found I could run offlinedecrypter for an hour or two after I made a recording, but any later and it was unable to decrypt the recordings. This pretty much killed any plans on that front.

Yeah, that's the case here too, you'll have to decrypt the recording the same day it was recorded.

Ah - cheers both, that could explain a great deal. Another of my "to-do or to-try" list entries crossed off Wink I'll stick with analogue recording from the STB then.

Ofcource you can, it's just that if you have watched digital recordings on a good screen you don't want analog ever again Big Grin

Edit: Plus the advantage of multirecording, not to forget...

Indeed, Most of my recording is digital, UK Freeview and Freesat and the only HD channels I get are the free ones - I don't have many subscription channels and the current STB works quite well with dual tuners, web and android remote applications.
