This patch should get rid of that initial exception you got.
I'm guessing you still get the red crossed lineup though?

Hi Sub,
Thanks for the patch. Unfortunately, nPVR is recording at the moment, so it will be another hour before I can try it. I will let you know how it goes. Hi Martin and Johnson, Thanks for the tip. I am completely unfamiliar with XMLTV at the moment, but I will do some studying. I've seen it mentioned enough here that I'm sure it is something I should have in my mental toolkit.

Hi Sub,
I still get an unhandled exception, but we made some progress. At the same point, while clicking "Schedules Direct" in the "Source:" drop-down, the new exception is: Code: InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'. But when I click "Continue", the EPG Source now window fills with the "Lineup:" and "Mapping:" drop-downs. The "Lineup:" drop-down still contains a big red X, but when I click on it, two selections drop: "No lineup selected" and "...manage lineups...". The "Mapping:" drop-down is empty. When I select "...manage lineups...", the "Schedules Direct Lineups" dialog box opens. The login fields look correct, but in the "Add Lineup" window, after entering my zip-code and selecting USA, the "Find Lineups Available" button does nothing, the "Lineup:" drop-down is empty, and the "Add Lineup" button also does nothing (Of course, since "Lineup:" is empty). I created another fresh npvr.log file and attached it. I waited about ten seconds between each action, so that I can differentiate them by the time-stamps. This is what I did: Restart the recording service. Start nPVR, select 'Settings->Channels' from the context menu, select channel # 5.2, click "Details" and then select "Schedules Direct" from the "Source:" drop-down. The unhandled exception message-box now appears, and I click "Continue". I select "...manage lineups..." from the "Lineup:" drop-down, and the "Schedules Direct Lineups" dialog appears. I add "90808" to the "Zip Code:" field, and then click "Find Lineups Available". I then close everything down, using "OK" instead of "Cancel", where appropriate. And here is the contents of the exception: Code: See the end of this message for details on invoking

Or am I completely misunderstanding why you suggested that? Doh, wrong bookmark. https://github.com/SchedulesDirect/JSON-...I-20140530 Martin

. . . just one question and an update:
The update: Since I appear to be the only one with these symptoms, I'm assuming the problem is with my system (not unusual, with my mix of oddball software). So I cleared out all remnants of nPVR, even from the registry (moving everything to an archive), and then did a fresh install of 3.3.8. I then applied the patches that Johnson was gracious enough to catalog. But the results were identical to before - the same unhandled exception. The question: Thinking of what might be different on my system, and noting the symptom that nPVR does not appear to be connecting to Schedules Direct, I'm wondering if the port address for the new JSON system might be different from what Schedules Direct was using before? I don't have a normal firewall on my network, instead I have a pretty industrial strength proxy-server. Outgoing ports never open automatically, so I need to open then explicitly, which means I need to know the port number beforehand. Does anyone know what ports need to be open for Schedules Direct JSON?

I missed your previous reply. Hopefully the attached update will get rid of the exception?
You shouldn't need to open any ports for this functionality.

Hi Sub,
Thanks so much for the updated file. Unfortunately, I still get an unhandled exception at the same point. Fortunately, it's a new one, so I'm sure we're making progress. A new npvr.log is attached. This exception says: Code: Visual Styles-related operation resulted in an error because no visual Code: See the end of this message for details on invoking And thanks so much for the effort. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to fix a problem that you can't reproduce first-hand, and therefore need to depend on crash reports and log files. I refer to it as "debugging by crystal ball".

It's a long shot but do you have Themes turned off on XP? If so try turning them on.
