Failed Start on Live TV

Results of tonight's tests:
[INDENT]Started from a clean install
Opened the "Channels" window
Selected a TV channel - worked
Pressed CTRL S, did not stop
Right clicked and selected stop - TV stopped
Selected a radio station on the Channel window - worked
Pressed CTRL S, Radio did stop
Selected TV, worked
Pressed CTRL S, did not work
Right clicked and selected stop - TV stopped
Selected Radio, appears to work but no sound

Logs with DeviceRules included attached. So it seems the first time through it all works but second time the radio fails and the TV does not obey CTRL S or the multimedia "STOP" button on my keyboard.

Odd, I'm not sure why Ctrl-S doesn't work for you with live tv, it certainly works here. That's undoubtedly a side-issue though.

Everything looks fine in your logs, I really don't know what else to suggest.

@Martin - does WebRadio handle FM channels, or only digital cable channels?

Now I think about it the error has changed, NPVR used to report that the capture device was unavailable but now NPVR does not complain (after the DeviceRules change I think) just there is no sound from the radio channel. More testing tonight!

I am gradually isolating what causes the problem here. I ran the following play sequences:

Radio -> Radio -> Radio: OK (logs in RRR folder)
TV -> Radio -> Radio: OK (logs in TRR folder)
Radio -> TV -> Radio: last change to radio failed, ie no sound (logs in RTR folder)

So it looks like a change from Radio to TV screws up the radio so it will not work next time. If the Radio has failed closing down NPVR and restarting it does not cure the problem but unplugging the tuner with NVPR running does cure it. So I guess it is something in the TV setup/closedown after selecting the Radio that puts the radio tuner in an incorrect state.

Any thoughts on what this is?

It is designed to work with Windows Media Center rather than Aver's media player and I think it all worked. I can check that out again tonight.

Fired up Windows Media Center tonight and loaded the AverMedia tuner. I switched repeatedly between live TV and FM radio, all worked OK.

One of my uses for NPVR was to serve streaming media to Kodi, so I tried ServerWMC as I guess that used Windows Media Center to interact with the tuners. That works OK so I'll probably stick with it for now. Thanks for all the answers and help, shame we couldn't get it working, I know that Avermedia tuner is a bit of an oddball and it isn't worth diving deep into the code to fix it.
