Is there a recommended way of keeping tabs on new versions of NextPVR?

I have 3.4.8 now. The EPG in Kodi stopped working, so I had to shut it down to load up NextPVR.

NextPVR tells me there is a newer version. It doesn't say what, and it doesn't give any way to download it.

How are home users expected to keep track of this? Is there some setting in NextPVR that allows it to keep itself updated, or is closing Kodi and going over to check NextPVR the recommended solution?

Whenever you running NextPVR, there is message overlay shown telling you there is a new version available. I think most people are smart enough to know where to download it from. You get the same notification in the NextPVR settings screen, with a link that'll take you to the NextPVR website for download information, and lists of changes.

If you're a Kodi user, there is nothing to tell you there is a new version and you'll just have to check from time to time.

Same here, but it's a complicated niche thing, - a real house of cards, so I don't really expect my wife to. I lost both drives in a RAID array in my video server Thursday (9 drives of about 25TB full of video) and it took until Saturday morning to get it all going again. She was most disappointed. I guess that's why she keeps me around. ;-)

Does that mean the installer version linked now has all the right files? I really, really, really, really, really wish that when the installer was updated there would be some kind of version bump or clue that it's been changed (beyond reading this entire thread) so we know when we might need to download a new one.

That's because you didn't follow the instructions to stop NextPVR before upgrading. Kill it off and run the installer again.
