I don't know what that is but I bet it's the culprit.

Can you create a wifi hotspot using a mobile phone and then connect the tablet to the Internet via the phone and then connect using the external IP address of your router. Doh ... having typed all that it dawns on me ... do you have a Android phone that you can test with (with wifi on the phone switched off)?

I had an issue with a different app getting access remotely with a VOIP cable router and it was because UPnP in Windows was misconfiguring the other IP's and what devices they were even though everything looked right in the settings GUI. This problem might affect your ability to access through the app. I ended up having to get an independent WiFi router to run the network and the networks WIFI.

If you haven't broken it at least once, you're not doing it right.

Turned my iPhone into a hotspot and tried to connect my Nexus thru that, no luck...

Additionally, I tried this directly from my Android Phone (Samsung S7), same results, both over external Wi-Fi and cellular. Works fine when directly connected to local network however.

Bugger ... another bet that I have lost ...

With apologies if I'm stating the bleedin' obvious ... are you typing a PIN code into the phone/tablet and is it the same code that is at Windows NextPVR Settings --> Clients ... it needs to be typed ... the grey 0000 ain't really there.

Yep, I used 0000 (I'm assuming that's the default because I've never changed it). Maybe I'll physically enter a new pin and sync with my android, perhaps that's what's off here.

I seem to recall that with a recent version of NextPVR, sub enhanced the security and won't allow external Internet access if the username or password are the defaults. I'm guessing the same may apply to the PIN. I'd definitely try actually setting it to something unique.

Sorry but that ain't it ... My Android phone is able to connect via the mobile phone network using 0000.

DOH!!!!

At some point, I must have changed the pin. I updated it in the NPVR server, re-created the connection in the Android client with the new pin and it worked... Thanks Graham, you get the ACK for figuring this one out...

When all else fails, go back to square one...

Phew... I was about to dig into it today to work out why it wasn't connecting for you.

FYI, it only requires the pin when connecting externally.

I think that's what thru me, it was connecting internally, so I assumed the PIN was ok.
