Channels now appear in NextPVR!!!
Is the problem because it is an older device?
I will now continue the process in NextPVR to see if everything else is OK.
I think you are beyond smart!!
Yeah, you need to setup each of the tuners. When you double click on the second tuner, it'll ask if you want top copy the config from the existing tuner - click yes.
In Win10 one of the problems setting up NextPVR for me was the correct choice of decoders (both audio and video). Somehow this has been done automatically in V5 linux.
How did you accomplish that?
And was the problem with my Hauppauge 2650 tuner not setting up channels an older hardware problem or a software problem?

You've still got to setup your decoders in v5 if you're running nextpvr.exe on Windows, which is the traditional style client, which uses directshow for playback.
If you're using the browser for playback, it has to convert everything to H.264+AAC, since that is all the browsers can reliably play. (but you take a hit on the time to start, and CPU required)

It wasn't to do with older hardware. It was just that you hadn't scanned for channels on the device. The majority of these types of devices are the SiliconDust HDHomeRun branded devices, and their installation process works a little differently to the Hauppauge software, and the software would have already scanned for channels by the time you went to use it in NextPVR. Most Hauppauge 2650 owners would have view channels on their device in some other software before getting to NextPVR, so would also have been fine.
