No Joy today ..   I shut down the old HTPC.   It's turned off and not running now.   Attempted a new fresh initial install of  NextPVR version 5 on THIS new PC.   In all attempts over last couple days I was able to get the install to finish and would ALWAYS see my "devices" listed in the web app GUI.  Been having problems with getting it set  up (mostly channel importing etc.)   But any of the prior (6 attempts) to install NPVR always automatically resulted with my seeing and being able to use my tuners.   All automatically from the start .. However now, the install finishes okay BUT I no longer have any listed devices ?   And the server doesn't seem to be started.   Attached is the latest "install" log of which the last few lines show everything completed and the app started BUT it looks like the server had a problem.

2020-04-12 14:54:32.502 [DEBUG][8] 'NextPVR Service' is installed
2020-04-12 14:54:32.502 [DEBUG][8] Starting NextPVR Service
2020-04-12 14:54:32.502 [DEBUG][8] Failed to start NextPVR Service
2020-04-12 14:54:32.502 [DEBUG][8] Starting NextPVR
2020-04-12 14:54:38.846 [DEBUG][8] Install complete

Why did the prior several install attempts automatically finish and show my devices with the three tuners etc. okay but now they are missing?

Is it possible you have a previous install of v5 in another folder?

Nope .. only the current install in same folder. I see in my windows system that the NPvr service is stopped and I can NOT start it. All indications are that the NPVR service has a problem ? In the "old days" with version 4, I seem to remember to have to install and set up the Silicon Dust HD Homerun device. That was a long time ago. I never did that on this new PC. But the prior 6 attempts did install without my having to do that. Is this new version 5 install process now different in that it can find and locate an existing HDHR Prime setup without my having to first set up the Silicon Dust tuner application ??

Zip and attach the C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\logs files, and I'll take a look.

Nope .. only the current install in same folder.  I see in my windows system that the NPvr service is stopped and I can NOT start it.  All indications are that the NPVR service has a problem ?    In the "old days" with version 4, I seem to remember to have to install and set up the Silicon Dust HD Homerun device first.  That was a long time ago.  I never did that on this new PC.  But the prior 6 attempts did install on this new PC all installed without my having to do that.  Is this new NPVR version 5 install process now different in that it can find and locate an existing HDHR Prime tuner setup without my having to first set up the Silicon Dust setup?

Opps yet another new problem.  My old "hardened" HTPC was designed to run "headless" and has backup systems to run it for 2 to 3 days if we loose power.  I now have it turned OFF.  Well it just suddenly automatically turned itself back ON.  And soon as that happened THIS new computer locked up.    What ??   I just just pulled the ac power cord out of the darn thing to stop that from happening.  I've just rebooted this computer and am posting this latest note here on the forum

Am I missing the obvious?   I just noticed there is no silicon dust device listed anywhere in this new system, and there is nothing on my network showing any HDHR device ??   How was I able to get this to work the prior 6 times but not now?   Maybe something involving network security settings or discovery or something?  Something has drastically changed here after I unplugged the old PC from the system.

Try manually running NextPVRServer.exe and tell us what happens

It wont need any extra SiliconDust software installed (unless you were using an old legacy HDHR - the HDHR Prime is not a legacy device)

If you want to disable NextPVR on your old machine, go into Services, stop the 'NextPVR Recording Service', and go into it's properties and set the startup to 'manual' instead of 'automatic'.

Running Windows 10 pro 64-bit .  Tried starting the service manually .. no joy.  Get a pop up that says, Windows Service Start Failure.  Cannot start service from the command line or a debugger.  A windows service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the ServerExplorer, Windows Services Administrative tool or the NET START command.

Sorry I have to hand type what  I see .. don't have many of the windows 10 things (like the snipping tool etc.) working yet.  The "old" machine is physically disconnected from power and LAN and is no longer in play.  Since doing that I can NOT get this version 5 NPVR to even install correctly.

Wrong executable - I wanted you to run "NextPVRServer.exe" not "NextPVRSevice.exe"
