clear qam automap

I am all hooked up, however it would be great if nextpvr could automerge channels based on epg mapping in addition to channel name.

Gracenote doesn't support clear QAM so Schedules Direct won't be able to get the channel info needed for this. You get OTA or cable box number only. You should be happy that you get 200 channels when many get zero and you don't have to map them all.

There seems to be some confusion. Most channels don't have names. none of the numbers line up. I manually mapped most of the ones with names. I want to merge those with their equivalent on my hdpvr and network encoders. the names are not the same but are very close "-hd" at the end instead of "dt". How can I merge them with different names but the same epg mapping.

When I mapped my QAM channels, I used the corresponding cable channel number. So, PBS is 2.1 on a TV and setup as 502 in NPVR. CBS is 4.1 and setup as 504. So, I have seven tuners for each of them merged together, four for QAM and three for CableCard.

I had a spare HDHR3 laying around, so I decided to hook it up and run a scan on my Verizon FIOS setup. I got 194 channels, and the only labeled ones were the local channels. They all mapped to the ATSC channel numbers (the same one you get if you had an antenna). All the others were in the 5000's and listed as UNKNOWN. A few were showing as HD, and those seem to be shopping channels. Most of the rest I checked had no video.

I'm going to go ahead and keep the other HDHR3 in service. I record a fair amount off the locals, so that gives me three extra tuners just for those and three that do the rest of the channels through the cable card. That should eliminate the rare times I ended up with four things wanted to record at one time and had to reschedule around the tuner contention.

Out of curiosity, are any of those (major) locals on the same RF frequency/channel so that multirec would be able to use 1 tuner to record from multiple ones?

I can't really tell. I'm using the API connection to the HDHR3 from Docker, so I'm not using the driver on Windows that would let you do the multirec on the same frequency.

I'm on Fios and use QAM as well. NBC, FOX, ABC and MY9 are all on same frequency. CBS and CW are on same and the PBS's are together.
